The Personalized Protective Biosystem (PPB) ensemble DARPA is developing aims to be lightweight, unlike current suits which are bulky and cumbersome (as pictured above), and designed with smart materials inspired by shark’s skin to provide 100% protection for soldiers against biological attacks or deadly agents should they come in contact with the skin, airway or eyes of warfighters.
