‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program Updates – Be In It to Win It

Time is running out to finalize your award nominations for the 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program.

Official Entry Nomination Closing Date: Sept. 22, 2017

The ‘ASTORS’ are organized to recognize the most distinguished vendors of Physical, IT, Port Security, Law Enforcement, First Responders, (Fire, EMT, Military, Support Services Vets, SBA, Medical Tech) as well as the Federal, State, County and Municipal Government Agencies – to acknowledge their outstanding efforts to ‘Keep our Nation Secure, One City at a Time.’

Official Judging will be completed by an AST Panel of Judges comprised of Industry Leaders in their Respective Fields.

Doug Haines is a career security professional. He retired from active duty with the US Air Force in 1993. 

He spent the next 20 years working for the U.S. Government, primarily overseas in Europe.  

Mr. Haines has over 45 years of experience in conducting physical security vulnerability assessments and risk analysis. 

He’s been teaching these concepts to architects, engineers, planners, facility managers, security professionals and others involved in developing mitigation strategies and building design planning since 2006.

Mr. Haines is both a guest lecturer and Adjunct Professor teaching access control concepts and security systems integration in academia. 

He’s widely sought after to share his knowledge at industry conferences around the globe.

Whether in India, Saudi Arabia or New York his audiences gain valuable knowledge in solutions strategies they can take back to the office.    

Mr. Haines a subject matter expert in integrating antiterrorism strategies into high occupancy inhabited spaces, regularly contributes to security industry publications, and is an established guest editorialist at American Security Today, frequently shares his knowledge, insights and experience with our public safety and security industry professional readers.

Haines is an active member of the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) Architectural Graphics and CAD Symbols for Security Systems, Physical Security Working Group and RISE Scholarship committees. 

Additionally, he was selected as the Sandra Jones Volunteer of the Year 2016 by SIA for helping shape the Associates of Applied Science Degree Program in Security Systems Technology at Mercer County Community College, and his significant contributions to the security industry.

Mr. Haines been married to his wife Carmen for 44 years.  They have a son and two grandsons.

Min Kyriannis serves as Cyber Security lead with JB&B Technologies.

With more than 15 years of experience in converged, global, cyber security and physical security, as well as work as a risk management leader, her career has spanned the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Ms. Kyriannis most recently was the technology subject matter expert at New York University’s Office of Construction Management, where she leveraged her technical expertise to develop strategies in enterprise physical security, enterprise information technology, and audiovisual technologies.

Prior to that, she was a project manager for New York University’s Information Technology Services.

Ms. Kyriannis engaged in both asset management and network infrastructure implementation.

She is currently working with groups within JB&B to develop cyber security standards for systems, system controls and devices on converged networks in order to mitigate risks and threats from cyberattacks.

Ms. Kyriannis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies, Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and Master of Arts degree in Food, Nutrition and Business Management, all from New York University.

She is also an active member of ASIS International.
