FLIR Systems, a Winner of the Annual ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program for Three Consecutive Years, is pleased to announce the FLIR MUVE™ C360 has been selected as a Finalist in the 2019 ‘ASTORS’ Awards Program.

For over 30 years, FLIR has purpose-built our handheld sensors so they can be taken anywhere the responder goes – Including some pretty dangerous situations.

After talking to civilian and military responders to learn what it’s like to operate handhelds in the hot zone, our product development team asked themselves, “What if responders didn’t have to immediately put themselves in danger? What if there was a safer way?”

The FLIR MUVE™ C360 is the industry’s first unmanned multi-gas detector, providing first responders a way to assess the scene from a safe distance.

FLIR MUVE™ C360

In the average time it takes to suit up, the FLIR MUVE™ C360 has already arrived on scene to locate, identify, and track the progression of chemical hazards.

To help response teams understand the flow of hazardous vapors – not only at the source, but in the air – the C360 is equipped with an 8-channel sensor block, which includes a photoionization detector (PID), lower explosive limit (LEL), and six other sensors for broad range of hazard coverage.

The MUVE C360 sensor block quickly latches to a proprietary integration dock mounted to the UAS. The FLIR calibration station features the same dock, so the operator can easily connect for routine sensor verification.

The FLIR MUVE C360 features an integrated snorkel designed to negate the effects of rotor wash.

The snorkel extends past the propellers to sample the unperturbed air outside of the rotor wash and give the pilot accurate readings, and also has a particulate filter to mitigate sensor contamination.

When responding to leaking tank cars, train derailments, or active fire scenes, first on-scene responders can fly in the C360 to locate and assess hazards like carbon monoxide or chlorine.

Before putting the health and safety of your team at risk, fly the C360 into the scene to gather initial assessment of hazards.

Sent ahead of a response team, MUVE C360 not only helps responders select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), but reduces time to action and adds a layer of safety to their mission once inside the hot zone.

The on-board LEL sensor detects flammable gasses below their Lower Explosive Limit and warns the pilot of a potentially hazardous gas plume before it reaches a dangerous level.

This adds a layer of safety to drone operation, because the pilot has early warning to stop the drone and back away from harmful areas.

The LEL information can also be used to establish safety perimeters for response teams.

For industrial safety, inspection, and monitoring experts, the C360 can access hard to reach locations.

It is fully integrated with the DJI Matrice 210 UAS, which allows pilots to also use the on-board Zenmuse XT2 thermal camera to find leaks (hot gas).

The C360 measures gas concentrations, detects methane and hydrocarbons, and can be used to help establish safety perimeters in the event of an incident.

The system also features the new FLIR VueLink app for unmanned aerial system pilots that provides flight control and real-time payload data from cameras and FLIR sensors.

The free app provides a common flight environment with advanced flight features.
