Frantic Hunt for Murder Suspects who Escaped N California Jail (Video)

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is seeking the public’s help to be on the lookout for two dangerous men who escaped from a Northern California jail early Sunday.

Santos Samuel Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, were being held in the Monterey County Adult Detention Facility awaiting trial on unrelated murder charges, with numerous other felony charges, authorities said.

MCSO is offering a $5,000.00 reward on information that leads to the capture of these individuals.

Fonseca is 5’7” and 150lbs. Salazar is 5’7 and 170lbs. Both are Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes. Both have been in custody since 2018.

An investigation is underway to determine their means of escape but, but no further information has been made available at this time.

“Our focus, and resources, are dedicated to locating and returning Fonseca and Salazar to custody,” said the MCSO in a statement.

Authorities are asking Monterey County area residents to take a good look at the attached photographs, and should you you see these men, call 911 immediately.

Monterey County is south of San Jose, on the Pacific coast.

Do not approach them as they are considered dangerous.
