GEICO Salutes Veterans Day with IT Dev’ Career Ops to Nation’s Heroes

GEICO joins the national Veterans Day observance by confirming its plan to recruit more veterans for its unique IT Professional Development Program.

Last year GEICO launched this unique recruiting program to train veterans with no prior experience for careers in the IT industry.

Veterans with past technology experience are also invited to contact GEICO.

“Supporting our veterans has always been one of GEICO’s core values,” says Peter Berlin, Corporate Recruiter. “The Veterans IT Professional Development Program is just one initiative GEICO offers to uphold our commitment to supporting the men and women who have served our country.”

The 12-month paid training program is designed to provide veterans with comprehensive IT training, mentoring and hands-on technical experience. By the end of the program, participants will have built a strong foundation for a successful career as a full-time GEICO IT professional.

“Despite what some may think, finding a job can be quite challenging for many military veterans,” says Tim Noonan, programmer analyst, who joined GEICO’s program in 2015.

“That’s why initiatives like GEICO’s Veterans IT Professional Development Program are so important. After my service in the United States Army, I joined the program and it was one of the best post-military career decisions I have made.”

The program is based at GEICO’s corporate headquarters in Chevy Chase, Md. Previous IT experience is not required, nor is a college degree; however, GEICO encourages and supports those pursing their degrees.

Veterans with strong analytic, problem-solving and communication skills, and a desire to meet the challenges of entering the IT career field are encouraged to visit GEICO’s technology careers page for more information and to submit an application.
