New Endpoint App Tool Provides Visibility into IT Security Risks

Thycotica competitor in the 2016 AST Homeland Security Awards ‘ASTORS’ competition, and a provider of privileged account management (PAM) solutions for more than 7,500 organizations worldwide, today announced its Endpoint Application Discovery Tool – a free tool that automatically discovers and reports on applications installed on Windows endpoints.

With this new tool, IT security professionals can now gain visibility over the entire network and understand any risks that are involved with applications running on their systems.

“Hackers and cyber criminals know how to exploit vulnerabilities associated with some of these applications to easily access your core systems,” said Steve Kahan, CMO at Thycotic.

“This free tool will save organizations significant amounts of time as they are easily able to discover applications on the network. Applications that pose security risks are flagged in a simple, at-a-glance report with instructions on how to remove or reduce your risk.”

“IT Security professionals’ lives will be simplified because they can run this tool as frequently as needed to make sure risky applications are never on their network and best of all, do it for free.”

According to the 2016 SANS Institute Survey of Endpoint Security, 44 percent of survey respondents said one or more of their endpoints have been breached in the last two years.

Endpoint Application Discovery Tool helps security professionals discover applications installed, report on installed applications to raise awareness of vulnerabilities in the network, flag potential applications with high security risks and download an inventory list of endpoints and applications discovered on the network.

Knowing what applications are running on the network mitigates the possibility for oversight of hard-to-track applications. The Endpoint Application Discovery Tool provides IT Administrators with the insight and knowledge they need to develop a plan for discovering and mitigating potential vulnerabilities.
