The City of Oakland, California has recently deployed Envision Solar’s EV ARC™ products, equipped with ChargePoint chargers, to provide emissions free EV charging and emergency power to the city’s public works department and emergency response services.

The City of Oakland is committed to sustainable operations overall and making their fleet as green as possible.

  • 43% of the City’s annual 700,000 gallons of fuel consumed is a low carbon or renewable alternative fuel.
  • The City of Oakland currently has 26 EVs today and intends to increase that number moving forward.

As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and provide clean and reliable power, Oakland intends to use solar as the cleanest fuel available for the City’s green fleet and as a potential source of backup power to add resiliency in the event of a power outage or lost access to other fuels.

The EV ARC™ fits inside a standard parking space, can reach as many as 8 parking spaces and will not reduce your available parking.

“We are very happy to add Oakland to our growing list of municipal customers,” said Desmond Wheatley, President and CEO of Envision Solar.

“They fully appreciate the value of rapidly deployed, scalable, renewably energized EV charging that will keep their fleet running on clean, free energy and provide emergency power when they need it most.”

There are 19,354 cities and towns in the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Envision Solar considers the municipal market to be an important area of focus for their sales team.

They have deployed EV ARC™ products in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Boulder, Sacramento and is currently fulfilling orders for Pittsburgh, PA and more.

Invented and manufactured in California, the EV ARC™ fits inside a parking space, without reducing available parking, and generates enough clean solar electricity to power up to 225 miles of EV driving in a day.

The system’s solar electrical generation is enhanced by EnvisionTrak™ which causes the array to follow the sun, generating up to 25% more electricity than a fixed array.

The energy is stored in the EV ARC™ product’s energy storage for charging day or night, and to provide emergency power during grid failure.

The EV ARC™ is mounted on a ballast and traction pad which will keep it upright even in winds of 110mph or earthquakes.

As the EV ARC™ product requires no trenching, foundations or installation work of any kind, it is deployed in minutes and can be moved to a new location with ease.

Envision Solar ARC™ products are manufactured in the company’s San Diego facility by combat veterans, individuals with disabilities, and other minority demographics and highly talented, mission-driven team members.
