A city man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly offering children gift cards for nude photographs and sex, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Jose Bautista-Palacios, 27-year-old, was arrested at his house on Main Street between Lee Place and De Grasse Street following a months-long investigation, authorities said.

He is accused of luring, endangering welfare of a child, attempted aggravated sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault.

Authorities received information from a concerned parent in March 2017 that triggered the investigation.

The parent found sexually oriented communication on her child’s phone with an unknown man, authorities said.

Authorities said the man was offering the child monetary gifts like gift cards for nude photographs and sex, authorities said.

Police identified Bautista-Palacios as the unknown male.

He allegedly tried to arrange an in-person meeting with the child, authorities said.

“We encourage the public to submit any information regarding this issue and ask that other possible victims notify our investigators,” Berdnik said.

Anyone with additional information about Bautista-Palacios is asked to contact detective sergeant Juan Passano at 973-720-7101 (Ext. 2323).
