Erika Swanner has over 15 years of experience in the combined areas of business development, marketing, public relations and international business. Swanner founded Booth Cyber Group last spring in an effort to provide cybersecurity firms with the advocacy of policy, target market research, and competitive analyses. She understands the impact of multiple issues on their bottom line and has developed an expertise in the strategies businesses must employ to achieve a high return on investment. She is especially skilled at recognizing and identifying relevant market trends and targeting appropriate demographics through the necessary marketing channels in order to deliver results.
Previously, as Vice President of Marketing at Encryptics, Swanner spearheaded the company's marketing and public relations activities, which included communications strategy, lead generation, and brand awareness. At MSI Advisors, Swanner was instrumental in building marketing campaigns and implementing strategy for MSI and its clients. Her leadership capabilities and successful client results led to the award of partnership in less than two years.
Prior to her association with MSI, Swanner founded her own marketing firm, Firefly Austin. The company successfully assisted small businesses with their public relations and marketing plans. Preceding Firefly, she was an advisor to Global Equations, a global business advisory firm. There she assisted in the planning of international marketing and business development efforts for global outsourcing client engagements and worked closely with clients in India, Guatemala, Canada, and Malaysia.
Over the years, she has been published in the Austin Business Journal and others at bizjournals.com. In 2013, she participated in the creation of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity, in which her team’s ideas were quoted in a letter from the Secretary of Treasury to the President. She’s recently ghost-written op-eds and speeches about global cybersecurity for a US Senator, former US ambassador, former congressman and cybersecurity executives.
