True Security Design (TSD), a leading school security consulting and training firm headquartered in Bay Shore, NY, was selected as a Double Platinum Award Winner in American Security Today’s 2019 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program.

The two categories TSD was recognized for, were Best Student Threat Assessment Team Training and Best Law Enforcement Education Program.

True Security Design (TSD) specializes in conducting complete and thorough Threat Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (TVRAs) for schools, municipalities and businesses, and is at the forefront of delivering live action role-play training simulations and classroom-based instruction to better prepare school staff in an emergency.

In response to the continued Active Shooter threat in schools, TSD developed a formal student threat assessment program for schools to implement and identify potential threats before they commit violent acts.

Led by Joseph Pangaro, a veteran police lieutenant and experienced school security director, the True Security Design team is uniquely qualified to find the gaps in a school’s security profile and then create a road map to mitigate any deficiencies found in a way that respects budgets and missions.

While TSD provides the core classes necessary to excel at their profession, True Security Design has also developed courses that bring the officer, investigator, and supervisor to the next level.

Unique classes that focus on response to Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking, Sexual Assault, Narcotic Investigation, and skills that develop an officer to become a leader in the law enforcement community.

Officers learn effective methodology of de-escalating a potentially violent situation using U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), adopted techniques.

Components of the training True Security Design provides span the human aspect of policing by training the officers to understand not just the law, but the community that they serve with an appreciation of the responsibility that must be performed with compassion and empathy.

The officers are trained to respond to the culture of the individual environments, lifestyles, and living conditions of the people they are sworn to serve.

The settings that officers operate in produce psychological stresses and our courses and instructors teach them how to effectively respond to these stresses making them more effective partners safeguarding of our society.

Many police departments rely on True Security Design to provide their officers with tools that would otherwise not be at their disposal, while giving them HIDTA (High Interdiction Drug Trafficking Area, partnership between federal government and local law enforcement) sponsored credits.

Reports from officers of their successes in the field are often credited to their course training.

Surveys are conducted at the end of every course to maintain quality control and measurement of effectiveness, which includes questions that reflect the knowledge of the material from the instructor, curriculum relevance in real life applications, the trainer’s presentation skills, and the opinion from the officers on the impact the course had on their ability to perform their duties.

Results from the surveys are over 95% “Excellent Rating” overall.
