Janus Global Operations (JGO) is helping to manage hazardous materials and waste at Camp Humphreys, a U.S. Army installation in South Korea, Working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
JGO will provide hazardous waste and materials technical experts and support to Camp Humphreys’ directorate of public works.
Camp Humphreys, also known as United States Army Garrison-Humphreys (USAG-H), is a United States Army garrison located near Anjeong-ri and Pyeongtaek metropolitan areas in South Korea, about forty miles south of Seoul, and is “home to the Army’s most active airfield (Desiderio Army Airfield) in the Pacific and the center of the largest construction and transformation project in the U.S. Department of Defense’s history.”

In addition to the airfield, there are several U.S. Army direct support, transportation, and tactical units located there, including the 2nd Infantry Division’s 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade.
The $10.7 billion Korea Relocation Program is one of the largest transformation, re-stationing and construction projects in Department of Defense history, transforming U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys into the largest U.S. Army garrison in Asia, with the Far East District having oversight over relocation construction.
With recent expansions, the challenges associated with managing hazardous material and hazardous waste have increased and, as such, training programs have to keep pace to equip the installation to meet ever-changing environmental compliance requirements.
The JGO training program will go beyond what is written in the regulations and provide personnel real world application information to lead the U.S. Army’s efforts to enhance environmental quality and enable mission readiness.

Additionally, JGO will help reduce the installation’s workload by providing personnel to perform the required assistance visits to the Hazardous Waste Accumulation Points and hazardous material storage sites required to achieve the highest level of compliance in the proper collection, handling, and disposal of hazardous wastes.
