U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane has announced the arrest of Marquan Way, 20, and Richard Washington, 29, in York and Ohio respectively.
On March 28, 2017, the York City Police Department obtained an arrest warrant charging Way with criminal attempt – criminal homicide, aggravated assault and possession of a prohibited firearm.
It is alleged that Way got into an argument with and shot his victim on the night of March 24, 2017 in the city of York. U.S. Marshals Task Force personnel out of York arrested Way without incident at a York City residence off of East South Street.
Way was turned over to local authorities pending judicial proceedings.
On October 16, 2015, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant charging Washington with failure to appear for court.
Washington is charged by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department with two counts of homicide by vehicle and related offenses as a result of an accident in December of 2013.
It is alleged he was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle causing it to strike an oncoming vehicle.
U.S. Marshals began looking for Washington in February of 2017 and believed he had fled Pennsylvania to the Columbus, Ohio area.
Marshals out of Scranton reached out to their counterparts in Columbus to look further into his whereabouts.
Washington was located and arrested without incident in Ohio. He was turned over to local authorities pending judicial proceedings and extradition back to Monroe County.
“The U.S. Marshals Service and our task force partners recognize the importance of cooperation between federal, state and local police agencies – especially when searching for fugitives wanted for violent crimes,” said United States Marshal Martin J. Pane.
“It is my sincere hope that the arrest of these fugitives brings some sense of relief to the community and the victim’s families.”
The USMS Fugitive Task Force worked jointly in these investigations with members of the York City Police department, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, York County District Attorney’s Office, York County Sheriff’s Office, Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team.
