AlertMedia, a Triple Award Winner in the 2019 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, is pleased to announce the company has secured Four Finalist Spots in the 2020 ‘ASTORS’ Awards Program.
AlertMedia helps organizations save lives and minimize loss by facilitating timely, accurate, and relevant communications during critical events, and exists to support organizations during emergencies like COVID-19.
When the pandemic struck in early March, AlertMedia knew the challenges their customers were about to face—and their capacity to help. The company immediately jumped into action, building capabilities into their product and creating resources that would help customers right away.
From the start of the pandemic, AlertMedia’s Global Threat Intelligence map featured the latest COVID-19 developments. As the pandemic unfolded, users could see emerging hotspots, new guidelines from health organizations, and the latest government orders.
They integrated new data sources from Johns Hopkins to get the latest COVID case counts into the system, and also added a COVID-19 filter—so that organizations could filter out the sea of pandemic news to clearly see what other emergent threats could impact their organization.

Once stay-at-home orders started going into effect across the country, AlertMedia’s customers were able to quickly connect with employees using multi-channel notifications, with a system that enabled them to streamline communication of their remote work plan and keep essential workers safe through timely updates, wellness checks, and pre-work symptom screenings.
In March, even as organizations scaled back other commitments in light of the uncertain economic outlook, demand for AlertMedia surged. AlertMedia added 250 new enterprise customers in March—and nearly 700 to date in 2020.
Even as demand surged, AlertMedia maintained their next-day onboarding and gave every new customer the same level of support that the company’s customers expect.
Their NPS score during these months remained sky-high—at +87.
Thousands of AlertMedia customers used their product during the early months of the pandemic to monitor the spread in their area and communicate accordingly with employees—putting remote work plans into place, filling vacated shifts, and conducting newly-mandated symptom screenings.
Krucial Staffing, for example, relies on AlertMedia to mobilize available healthcare workers for hotspot staffing needs.
They use multi-channel messaging and survey capabilities daily to coordinate the logistics of travel, transportation, wellness checks, and contract renewals.
Other AlertMedia customers use the system to conduct pre-shift symptom screening and quickly circulate news of a positive test result within the company, to prevent further spread.
(What Makes This Winter Different? A higher percentage of remote workers means productivity can be dependent on employees’ home internet quality? Increased risk of COVID-19 transmission. Heightened sickness and stress during the winter/holiday season. More children at home due to COVID-19 exposure or school closures. From icy roads and heavy snowfall to a potential surge of COVID-19 cases, AlertMedia provides questions and actionable advice in this Q&A. To Learn More… Click Here. Customers also recognized the versatility their system offers when it came to protecting a remote workforce.
Because AlertMedia’s threat intelligence software integrates with an organization’s HR system and mobile devices, employee home addresses can be displayed right on the AlertMedia map.
When organizations across the world needed to stop monitoring threats for one central office, and start watching for how hundreds of dispersed homes were impacted, all it took was a few clicks.
AlertMedia’s threat intelligence software system automatically determines which of an organization’s remote workers are impacted by each emerging threat and allows organizations to communicate with only those impacted employees.
Additionally, thousands of organizations were empowered to coordinate office closures, wellness checks, reopening plans, policy changes, shift scheduling, and symptom screenings, using AlertMedia’s mass notification software as the glue holding their pandemic response together.
The company’s investment in building advanced COVID-19 capabilities into their system paid off in a huge way for their customers.
At a time when clear information and clear communication were so hard to come by—but more important than ever—AlertMedia stepped in to fill that need.
AlertMedia prioritizes ongoing investment to innovate and add new features that keep the company’s product a step or two ahead of the competition with cutting-edge features which include:
AlertMedia allows you to choose between multiple channels when sending your notification—including text, phone call, email, social media, mobile app push, intranet, desktop takeover, Slack, Twitter, and any number of custom channels.
AlertMedia integrates with any accessible system, so their customers reach their audiences anywhere and everywhere.
You can send messages simultaneously over all channels or elect to cascade your messages from one channel to the next until message receipt is confirmed.
Audience Interactions and Content:
All messages sent through AlertMedia allow for two-way communication, meaning recipients can respond to any message sent.
These responses can include long-form messages, read confirmations, and survey responses.
Your people can also request help, share their location, and submit updates from the front line, helping you better protect them and manage an event to a successful outcome.
In a crisis, decisions need to be made—quickly. But there is often little time for the steps which precede a typical conference call (scheduling a meeting, sending out a link, notifying members of a dial-in, etc.).
The AlertMedia conference call feature removes these unnecessary barriers and allows decision-makers to get in contact as quickly as possible.
From the AlertMedia portal, the person initiating the emergency conference call simply enters the group needed on the call, clicks send, and the system will immediately begin to dial the phone numbers of everyone on the call, adding them to the conference call as they pick up the phone.
During Hurricane Harvey, this feature proved critical to Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. When the hurricane struck, AlertMedia allowed The Blood Center to instantly contact executives and directors to discuss necessary plans and procedures.
This feature has also proved valuable for remote workforces during the pandemic—allowing dispersed leadership teams to quickly get on the same page during critical events.
Notifications help coordinate people during events—whether that event is severe weather, a wi-fi outage, an active shooter, or something else.
Many of these events transpire over the course of several days—or, in the case of the pandemic, several months—requiring you to send multiple notifications alerting your people to the most current status.
However, sending too many notifications carries the risk of notification fatigue, diluting the impact of individual messages because employees are so accustomed to receiving them.
Event pages provide organizations with a single web page that they can keep updated with the most up-to-date information on the event, without having to send a new notification for each new development.
On the event page you can post updates, answer questions, and upload valuable continuity information (such as emergency response plans, photos, and video) as the event transpires.
Event pages can even be managed on the mobile app, making it possible for a security professional to manage the full cycle of an event—progression to resolution—without having to be at their desks or on their laptop.
In any crisis, clicking “Send Notification” is just the beginning.
Companies still need to monitor responses from employees, take action to assist anyone that is in need, and ensure that everyone has received the message.
AlertMedia’s cutting-edge reporting dashboard makes sure that system admins can do all this in one place.
System admins can instantly see the delivery status of all messages, any responses to the message, and how many employees have read the message.
They can also quickly send a follow-up message if they need to give an update.
Global Threat Intelligence:
Threats are everywhere—from severe weather to civil unrest to fast-spreading wildfires.
AlertMedia ensures that their customers and their employees are informed and protected from this wide array of threats.
The system pulls threat data from trusted sources and analysts around the world—and automatically notifies their customers when a threat emerges that could put their people or assets at risk.
AlertMedia automatically determines which employees are at risk, and allows organizations to immediately reach out to those employees to determine if they are safe or need assistance.
Companies can even opt to have their at-risk employees notified directly when a threat emerges—so that not a second is lost.
While AlertMedia mass notification software can be easily accessed through a web browser, we know emergencies do not always occur when you have access to a computer.
The AlertMedia mobile application provides our administrators nearly every feature included within the desktop version in an easy-to-use, native mobile app experience.
A full-featured mobile app provides admins agility in a crisis—allowing them to send messages, manage responses, and confirm safety, all right from the app.
AlertMedia provides stellar customer service, putting their customers first from day one, walking them through a simple onboarding process that can get them up-and-running within hours of signing—which is invaluable for customers facing an oncoming hurricane or other looming threat.
John Hargrove, CIO at Franklin Mint Credit Union, a customer in need of a reliable solution to communicate with employees during winter storms, spoke to this: “Within 15 minutes of receiving my login, I had all 375 employees uploaded, and I was sending test messages to our employee base within seconds.”
The best part is, AlertMedia is such an intuitive product that their customers rarely need assistance after the initial onboarding, with software built to be panic-proof—able to be used with little-to-no training.
Exceptional Customer Support and Industry-leading NPS:
Each AlertMedia customer is given a dedicated customer success manager, as well as a 24/7 hotline for immediate assistance.
The result is the highest customer satisfaction metrics in the industry: an NPS score of +87 and a 98% customer satisfaction rate.
AlertMedia does everything we can to make the onboarding process as painless as possible—and support them in the heat of an emergency.
The company’s customer success team has an average response time of just 12 minutes, 24/7.
Olson & Olson took advantage of this incredibly fast setup and support: “When flooding started to overwhelm Houston, and we were pressed for time to get an emergency communication system in place, AlertMedia saved the day with excellent customer support, getting us set up with our account in just a few hours.”
Unmatched Global Growth:
As proven by the August Inc. 5000 ranking, AlertMedia is the world’s fastest-growing emergency communication provider, having grown for 0 in 2013, to over 2,000 customers in over 100 countries.
The reason for this staggering growth is simple.
They provide an accessible, easy-to-use, mobile-friendly system that focuses on two-way communication.
AlertMedia has empowered customers such as Walmart, DHL, The Salvation Army, BP, and Greyhound to easily send and receive messages with their audience via multiple channels.
Each day, AlertMedia is helping warn more companies about threats to their business and communicate more effectively with their employees during critical events.
