Allied Universal®, a leading security and facility services company, and a recognized Winner for two consecutive years in the prestigious Annual ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, has been presented with the prestigious Pro Patria Award given by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) through the Department of Defense at the 2019 Awards Banquet at the Hyatt Place in New York on June 7.
ESGR was established to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.
ESGR is supported by a network of more than 3,750 volunteers in 54 committees, hailing from small business and industry, government, education, and prior military service bring a vast wealth of experience to assist in serving employers, Service members, and their families.
ESGR’s Pro Patria Award is presented annually by each ESGR State Committee to one small, one large, and one public sector employer in their state or territory.
According to the ESGR State Committee, Allied Universal received this award due to its support of Guard and Reserve employees through the company’s leadership and practices, including adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve.
This is the highest level award that may be bestowed by an ESGR State Committee.
“We are extremely honored to receive such a prominent award and we thank the ESGR State Committee and the Department of Defense for recognizing our commitment to advancing the lives and careers of our veterans and transitioning service members in the communities we serve,” explained Steve Jones, CEO of Allied Universal.
“This is the perfect time to recognize that veterans, service members and reservists are unsung heroes who do their part to serve and protect us as we celebrate the Army’s birthday on June 14.”
Allied Universal continues to employ men and women who have served in the military by helping advance their second career in the security industry.
Over the last five years, the company has hired more than 33,000 veterans.
