Acoustic Technology, Inc. Designed to eliminate the disadvantages of similar commercially available modular units, ATI’s newly developed and U.S. Patented (US Patent # 10,110,993) features circular speakers that enhance manufacturability, performance, and serviceability.

ATI Systems Multiple Stacked Circular Speaker Arrays include a directional horn that provides optimal performance and a more aesthetically pleasing configuration that appeals to many cities.

“The introduction of ATI circular speakers is a game changer when it comes to helping cities that prefer appealing looks of multiple-cell type speaker stations,” explains Ray Bassiouni, CEO of ATI Systems.

“ATI reduces the size of the unit by increasing the power of each cell to 800 watts.”

ATI Systems New Multiple Stacked Circular Speaker design advantages include:

• A high-powered omnidirectional electronic speaker array has a variable number of circular chambers vertically arranged on a rigid mast; each chamber contains manifolds serving as waveguides for sound energy emanating from audio compression drivers.

• Each manifold combines the output of two or more compression drivers into a single source and maintains a smoothly and exponentially increasing cross-sectional area for the full length of the waveguide to an output port located close to the center of the module.

• The curved external surfaces of the upper and lower sections of adjacent modules continue the exponentially increasing cross-sectional area to create a horn-shaped final output mouth for the sound energy.

• The separation between vertically adjacent exiting surfaces of multiple modules is minimized for the purpose of improving intelligibility, maximum acoustic range, and lower distortion.

ATI Systems also recently unveiled their Next Generation for the entire ATI’s MNS Product line.

ATI’s next-generation Mass Notification System product line combines its field-proven features with several important enhancements delivering the most advanced solution on the market to date.

A typical wide-area voice system consists of several different components:

Large outdoor units (Giant Voice):

• ATI offers the High-Power Speaker Station (HPSS) to project alert tones or voice messages over a wide area. High power, ruggedness, and reliability are critical.

Indoor units:

• Mass notification systems typically cover large outdoor areas, but it is important to alert people inside the buildings. ATI’s Indoor Speaker Unit (ISU) offers customers intelligent, flexible solutions to handle complicated indoor Mass notification scenarios.

• A robust communication and control backbone: this is provided by ATI’s award-winning REACT5000 Central Control Unit (CCU) and MassAlert software, which provides an intuitive graphic display of the customer’s system.

ATI supports several communication options to ensure a reliable system.

Next Generation of ATI Outdoor Solution HPSS

The Next Generation HPSS extends improvements previously introduced in ATI’s Next-Gen ISU (Indoor Speaker Unit) to their rugged outdoor electronic sirens, building on over a quarter-century of experience with large outdoor warning systems.

An Intelligent Control Gateway (ICG) controls one amplifier for a 1600-watt unit or two amps for a 3200- watt unit. The stainless-steel enclosure contains a NEMA 4x rated section for the electronics and vented shelves for four large 12-volt batteries.

Their Next Generation (NG) HPSS electronics feature modular construction allowing for flexible configuration and quick replacement of modules. All circuit boards are conformally coated for extra protection in rugged environments.

The Next Generation of the HPSS includes improved power supplies:

• A more efficient AC charger with universal input (no rewiring for 110/220-volt AC).

• A solar option featuring a modern solar charge controller supporting Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and an optional Bluetooth dongle for monitoring solar parameters.

In the event of a power failure, the batteries can support up to a week of standby time followed by at least 30 minutes of activation.

As with the previous generation, the HPSS features either four or eight 400-watt speaker heads, which are carefully engineered for voice intelligibility over large distances. ATI speakers have an advantage as they can be aimed or tilted, focusing the sound in areas where it is desired while reducing spillover into neighboring areas.

Deployment Options

The NG HPSS is available either for pole mounting for permanent installations or in a trailer-mounted mobile version featuring a retractable mast for rapid deployment in areas facing a short-term emergency.

Indoor Speaker Unit (ISU)

Many applications, such as mass notification systems at colleges, industrial parks, military bases, also need the ability to alert people inside buildings.

Intelligence, flexibility, and configurability are important in these applications.

ATI’s Indoor Speaker Unit (ISU) is available with a range of options that will support a wide variety of customer requirements. The ISU can directly drive up to 400 watts of speakers but can also interface to PAs and Fire Alarms to leverage existing in-building systems. The ISU is also available with an optional strobe power supply that includes synchronization between strobes, as is required in many circumstances.

ISUs can be controlled and monitored entirely from the remote CCU where local control is not desired. However, units can also be equipped with one or more Local Operator Consoles (LOCs). The LOC allows local control and activation even if communication to the CCU is interrupted and usually includes a microphone for local live PA.

Flexible Control Options

A Mass Notification System is only as good as the control and communication system linking the Central Control Stations with the field units.

The communication system must work during an emergency when it may be subject to power failures, network outages, or cellular networks jammed by excessive traffic.

The new HPSS completes ATI’s move away from the 8/16-bit CPU of our older controllers to the ICG’s modern 32-bit ARM CPU with additional memory.

One of the key features of the new CPU is a powerful software base.  This includes support for IPv6 and enhanced security over IP by integrating SSL/TLS security standards, including RSA, 3DES, AES, ARC4, SHA1, SHA2, MD2, MD4, and MD5.  Another key feature is added network and communication ports, including Ethernet, USB, CANbus, RS232, RS485, analog radio, and telephone line.

The latest version of ATI’s Central Control Unit (CCU), the REACT5000, supports 25-watt UHF/VHF radios allowing ATI Control Stations to communicate with HPSS several miles away with no reliance on third-party infrastructures, such as cell towers or Wi-Fi access points.

Cellular, satellite, or various forms of IP can also be used. ATI supports multiple communication paths in parallel for customers interested in the highest system reliability and redundancy.
