Automatic Under Vehicle Inspection System: The Gold Standard (Video)

If you aren’t inspecting the undercarriage of vehicles automatically – why bother?

A growing number of experienced security professionals across the globe have taken this position with regards to vehicle inspections.

These same professionals were among the first to embrace the benefits of artificial and or augmented intelligence as a means to overcome the inherent challenges of manual vehicle inspection.

Gatekeeper’s development and application of AI to the world of under vehicle inspection has been a breakthrough for the security industry worldwide, eliminating challenges associated with manual inspection.

Gatekeeper technologies aren’t meant to replace humans. They’re designed to augment the human operator to make better informed decisions.

Gatekeeper AUVIS eliminates challenges associated with manual inspection such as:

  1. Providing a comprehensive search of a vehicle’s undercarriage in an efficient and timely manner.
  2. Personnel conducting a search with little if any knowledge of the mechanical layout of a vehicle undercarriage.
  3. The ability of guards to concentrate and conduct comprehensive searches for many hours at a time in varying work environments.

How Does Gatekeeper’s Automatic Under Vehicle Inspection System (AUVIS) Technology Work?

Gatekeeper’s patented Automatic Under Vehicle Inspection System (AUVIS) technology rapidly scans a vehicle’s undercarriage and automatically:

  • Identifies the vehicle’s make and model
  • Detects any foreign objects or modifications
  • Highlights these changes
  • Establishes the vehicle’s “digital fingerprint”
  • Alerts personnel of any threats – all in a matter of seconds
  • High and secure throughput

Permanent

For permanent, non-intrusive installations at military checkpoints, government buildings, border crossings, and a host of other applications, the GKR-2011 AUVIS is the ideal solution for automatic identification of modifications to a vehicle’s undercarriage.

Utilizing Gatekeeper’s advanced patented scanning technology, two high-resolution, virtual 3-D digital images of a vehicle’s undercarriage are compiled to create the vehicles fingerprint, each from a 60-degree angle.

This combined image gives a clear advantage over single 90-degree view systems, making it easier to see any threatening objects that may be hidden on top of an axle or crossbeam.

Mobile

For checkpoints and installations where roads cannot be dug up or situations where mobility is required and checkpoints need to be moved, the GKR-1011 AUVIS is the ideal mobile solution for automatic under vehicle inspection.

The GKR-1011 is quick and easy to install, and offers the same advanced capabilities as the permanent embedded application – GKR-2011 AUVIS.

The GKR-1011 AUVIS mobile solution detects threats or modifications to a vehicle’s undercarriage as vehicles drive over the mobile bidirectional scanners.

Two high-resolution, virtual 3-D digital images of a vehicle’s undercarriage are compiled to create the vehicle’s fingerprint, making it easier to see any threatening objects that may be hidden on top of an axle or crossbeam.

In addition, an overview of the car and driver are captured and displayed.

2-3 seconds after the vehicle has cleared the mobile scanning device, Gatekeeper’s Automatic Foreign Object Detection software automatically compares the subject vehicle’s undercarriage to a safe vehicle (stored in the database) and displays both on the operator’s screen.

The system then immediately identifies any threatening foreign objects or modifications to the undercarriage by circling them with a red ring (see below) AND activating an audio and/or visual alarm.

Gatekeeper Security’s range of optical-based security technologies make use of highly advanced artificial and augmented intelligence.

It’s this advanced artificial intelligence that positions us as a global leader in optical threat inspection and recognition.
