Bellingham CBP Officers Assist in Locating Wanted Man at Airport

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations at the Bellingham port of entry detained a 32-year-old Bellingham man after Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) requested assistance in locating the individual who had an outstanding felony warrant for escape of community custody.

While CBP officers were conducting a walkthrough of the airport terminal, they were directed toward a person sitting outside the terminal.

The man met the description of the individual being sought by WCSO.

CBP officers briefly detained him until a Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputy came to verify the man’s identity and subsequently took custody of the man.

“CBP officers can and do partner with outside agencies to act as a force multiplier,” said Area Port Director Kenneth Williams.

“This wanted man is off the streets for now and will face the charges against him.”

The man was taken to the Whatcom County Jail.
