Bi-National Collaboration Works to Prosecute Wanted Felon

The U.S. Border Patrol/El Paso Sector Foreign Operations Branch and the “Procuraduría General de la Republica” Regional Attaché (PGR) in Mexico have collaborated in the repatriation of a Mexican National found to have an active warrant from the State of Guerrero on Aggravated Rape charges.

On September 14, 2017, U.S. Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Deming Border Patrol Station arrested 38-year-old Mexican National, Ramiro Gaspar Barragan.

While processing Gaspar Barragan, it was discovered he had an extensive criminal history.

Records checks revealed charges including Aggravated Rape in Mexico and charges related to Re-Entry of a previously deported alien.

Efforts to bring him to justice did not stop there when arresting Agents then contacted the El Paso Sector Foreign Operations Branch (FOB) and informed them about the case.

In coordination with PGR, Gaspar Barragan is wanted for Aggravated Rape on an active warrant issued by the Assistant of the Attorney General of Mexico, in the State of Guerrero.

On October 13, the subject was removed to Mexico and turned over to Policía Federal Ministerial which allowed them the ability to execute the warrant from the Mexican state of Guerrero.
