CrossingGard with ThreatProtect was specifically designed to create lockdown zones within a building when a hostile event alarm is triggered.
CrossingGard with Threat Protect can likewise be used to open pathways to allow freedom of movement in the event of a fire alarm.
ThreatProtect controls are determined by end-user protocols based on the building design & emergency management plans.
The operating system uses two alarm inputs and a self-contained backup power supply to provide ultimate flexibility in managing threatening situations.
Ideal for educational facilities, medical complexes, corporate offices, and large venues, the product can help restrict an intruder from moving freely about the building, obstruct an intruder’s view, or provide open egress for evacuation.
The new ThreatProtect solution installs like a standard rolling door with the added benefit of wiring that creates a direct line of communication from the response plan’s central command to the grille or door itself.
ThreatProtect also includes a key override for staff and authorities, providing the ability to override any alarm condition.
It includes a battery backup, allowing the door or grille to operate and respond to alarm conditions during a power outage for up to 48 hours or ten open/close cycles.
It features a wireless sensing edge for added safety, enabling the grille or door to detect obstructions.
Available in various finishes, the solution can also be customized with ScreenGard perforated slats (made from 20-gauge galvanized steel or 16-gauge clear anodized aluminum), which can be placed in every slat or alternated for increased visibility.
Solid doors are available in sizes up to 20 ft. x 50 ft., insulated doors are available up to 17 ft. x 10 ft., and grilles are available up to 20 ft. x 15 ft.

The keynote address was provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner (DEAC) Diane Sabatino, who described the changes to CBP through the tragedy of 9/11 and the relentless commitment to its mission and ongoing investment in the latest technologies and innovations to protect our borders and Homeland.
The resounding theme of the DEAC’s remarks was her pride in the women and men of the CBP and their families who support them.
AST was also joined by Legendary Police Commissioner William Bratton, who spoke about his love for the City of New York, the Profession of law enforcement to which he has dedicated his life, and for which he continues to drive thought leadership and innovation.
New York City Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Department Kenneth Corey, came out to address Luncheon attendees and shared some of his experiences and the changes in policing he’s witnessed over his more than three decades of service.
FDNY Chief Joseph Jardin honored the men and women of the FDNY, not only those who currently serve but all of those who have selflessly served, with special recognition of those lost on 9/11.
Chief Jardin spoke about the continuing health battle of many following 9/11 with cancer and respiratory disease, yet now knowing the full consequences, would not have made a different decision to respond.
As Chief Jardin noted, mission-driven service is the lifeblood of every firefighter, volunteer, and sworn member, and has been so throughout the history of the Fire Service.
