'ASTORS' AWARD WINNING HEXWAVE from Liberty Defense, uses a form of low power radar energy that creates 3D images in real-time to detect weapons through clothing and hand-held baggage (backpacks, handbags, etc.).

DrawDown Detection has entered into a letter of intent with Liberty Defense, a leading concealed weapons detection company, and the Platinum Award Winner in the 2019 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program for Best Metal/Weapons Detection Solution.

DrawDown Detection is a weapons detection technology company that commercializes intellectual property for use in the public safety market, and is in the development stage of a handheld device to detect smokeless gunpowder (the Gunpowder Detection Sensor).

With incidents of terrorism on the rise, and with concern for public safety at an all-time high, HEXWAVE from Liberty Defense, is an innovative weapons detection system developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory, that enables discrete, modular, layered protection for high volume foot traffic areas.

HEXWAVE uses a form of low power radar energy that creates 3D images in real-time to detect weapons through clothing and hand-held baggage (backpacks, handbags, etc.), that can be scaled to fit multiple or unique entry points to provide a layered, stand-off detection capability.

HEXWAVE is designed to detect weapons and threats (guns, explosives, knives, both metallic & non-metallic) carried on a person under clothing in real-time as they move onto the grounds or buildings of a facility.

It uses low power radio frequency signals to scan people in a detection space to create 3-dimensional (3D) data such as the size, shape, depth, and location of potential weapons or other articles.

These 3D images are then analyzed by a type of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to determine if an item is a threat or just a set of keys or a cell phone, etc.

The sensors are designed to detect and distinguish between metal and non-metal firearms, knives, explosives and other threats.

(With the serious nature of violent crime and acts of terrorism changing, along with the threat from concealed weapons on the rise, Liberty Defense works hard to deliver a safer, more secure future for all of us. Courtesy of Liberty Defense and YouTube.)

There are no health or privacy risks from the HEXWAVE detection system, as it uses a similar frequency as Wi-Fi and the power level is 200 times less than the power in your homes.

The images do not have any personal identifiable information and are only used by the machine AI to determine the presence of a weapon.

HEXWAVE was intended to be stand alone or used in conjunction with other security products, with a sleek, refined industrial design makes it simple to install, easy to maintain, and discreet to operate.

HEXWAVE’s its capability is based on research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Lab (MIT LL) that is focused on weapon threat detection and attack prevention.

HEXWAVE is a new capability in the threat detection market with a focus on the rapidly growing urban security environment.

This market is being driven by the progressive increase in mass attacks over the last few years on both a US national and global scale.

The breadth and increasing frequency of such attacks across our communities was the inspiration for Liberty Defense to work towards a new technology that can make our communities considerably safer.

Since 2015, there has been more than 350 mass shootings per year in North America, increasing to 426 mass shootings in 2018.

The prevention of attacks requires proactive intervention to detect threats, however, current solutions are limited in meeting the range of community security risks.

ProVision from L3Harris Technologies

“Between our team of engineers and the expertise of our Chief Technology Officer, Michael Lanzaro, who was instrumental in developing ProVision for L3Harris Technologies, which can be found in every major airport around the world, we plan to enhance the performance of this product to meet global market demands for frictionless weapon scanning/screening.”

“A new management team will be put in place that has significant security industry relationships, capital market expertise and experience working with the development of security related technologies, specifically radio frequency imaging applications which encompass HEXWAVE,” added Mr. Frain.

DrawDown Detection

“Our new team successfully developed and commercialized multiple products on a global basis to meet market demand while at L3 SDS.”

“The goal for these combined entities is to have HEXWAVE in Beta testing in the first quarter 2021 with product sales commencing in H2 2021.”
