BallisticSearch is a new product providing law enforcement agencies with faster and more efficient cartridge case analysis, and was unveiled at the 2017 IACP Conference in Philadelphia.

The solution enables agencies to quickly compare evidence from crime scenes to help generate more investigative leads, and potentially identify more suspects and the firearms they use.
Developed using the company’s image analysis and technology expertise, BallisticSearch is designed to be the most efficient system available for analyzing ballistic evidence in both 2D and 3D format.
BallisticSearch can process evidence in minutes, while other systems can take hours to process the same evidence.
BallisticSearch’s faster analysis will have a huge impact on reducing backlogs.

Garry McCarthy, former Chicago Police Department Superintendent from 2011 to 2015, noted the need for cutting-edge solutions in fighting rising crime rates.

In July, the U.S. House Appropriations Committee issued a Committee Report (Report 115-XX) to accompany its version of the FY 2018 Homeland Security Appropriations bill.
The committee report included a strong statement of intent regarding CBP procurement of ALPR technology.
“The recommendation includes not less than $11,000,000 for the border security deployment program. CBP is encouraged to continue to procure license plate reader technology” according to the Committee Report.

Crime rings or associates can be identified by comparing the vehicles seen at multiple addresses.
The solution includes fixed camera configurations that form a virtual fence around a geographic area of interest, scanning all plates entering or exiting the virtual fence area.
Agencies accessing LEARN also have the option to use Vigilant’s commercial vehicle detections which include over 7 billion license plate detections captured nationwide with over 150 million more added each month.
Because the data is hosted, data is never replicated or copied, leaving the agency in complete control of data sharing and data retention.

Search by Partial Plate:
- Enter a partial plate along with any other data you have like date, location or time and you can search for the full plate number.
Search by Address:
- Focus on when and where a crime took place and compare it to historical LPR data to determine what, if any, vehicles were at the location during the time a crime occurred.
