FLIR Systems, Two-Time Winner in the 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Award Winnerand strong competitor in the 2018 ‘ASTORS’ Awards Program is in receipt of an order for  FLIR IBAC 2 biological agent detector systems to support the United States (U.S.) Forces Korea (USFK).

USFK is the joint headquarters through which U.S. combat forces would be sent to the South Korea/US (ROK/U.S.) Combined Forces Command’s (CFC) fighting components — the combined ground, air, naval, marine and special operations forces component commands.

Major USFK elements include Eighth U.S. Army (EUSA), U.S. Air Forces Korea (Seventh Air Force), U.S. Naval Forces Korea (CNFK), U.S. Marine Forces Korea (MARFORK) and Special Operations Command Korea (SOCKOR).

The delivery order is under a 10-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract in support of the Joint United States Forces Korea Portal and Integrated Threat Recognition (JUPITR) program led by the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD).

The order is valued at $4 million with deliveries beginning in July 2018.

The FLIR IBAC 2 is a real-time air monitor that alarms in less than 60 seconds when an airborne bio-threat, such as spore, viral, cellular, and protein toxins, are present, then collects, preserves, and transmits data to command and control centers.

Early Warning of Bio-Aerosol Threats

  • REAL-TIME WARNING CAPABILITY

Autonomous 24/7 operation with no consumables. Detection algorithms for indoor and outdoor use.

  • ALARM AUTOMATICALLY TRIGGERS SAMPLE COLLECTION

System triggers collector only when high-probability of bio-agent threat, greatly reducing consumables and number of samples to process.

  • MOST WIDELY DEPLOYED BIOLOGICAL TRIGGER

Operates as part of a network configuration in “first tier” building protection system, or via battery for mobile detection capability.

In wide service throughout the world, IBAC 2 is used to collect and detect all four classes of biological aerosol threats (spore, viral, cellular, and protein toxins) at concentrations at or below industry goals.

With more than 1,500 operating units worldwide, the FLIR IBAC 2 is the most widely deployed biological trigger on the market today.

“We are proud to support our U.S. militaries with reliable products that ensure accurate analysis of biological threats for safe and fast response,” said David Ray, President of the  Government and Defense Business Unit at FLIR.

“This order supports our mission to provide solutions that save lives and livelihoods, equipping U.S. soldiers with technology that gathers, interprets, and communicates actionable information, reducing decision time in support of our national security.”
