On November 16th, 2022, Jim Robell, the President and CEO of Fortior Solutions President was named the 2022 ‘ASTORS’ Industry Leadership & Innovation Person of the Year in the 2022 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program by American Security Today (AST).

The prestigious 2022 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Awards were presented to Robell, at the Annual ‘ASTORS’ Awards Ceremony and Banquet Luncheon at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.
Robell has been a recognized leader in the industry for more than 40 years, first serving in the technology space for almost 20 years at Intel Corporation, before joining Fortior Solutions in 2002.
Under Robell’s leadership as the top executive at Fortior Solutions, the company has developed new industry-leading products to make commercial and critical infrastructure locations, as well as government and military facilities, safer and more secure.

Mr. Robell also recently led the company through the development of a new secure cellular modem software to support a new generation of credential verification handheld readers that can be used both at fixed points and in the field.
Mr. Robell also oversaw the integration of additional government watch lists to enhance the company’s RAPID-RCx® program, and he led the development of new handheld reader compliance security features. Mr. Robell has generated two patents and two pending patents. He is heading up production of an innovative new sports and entertainment solution.

Alongside Robell, Diane Sabatino, the Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner (DEAC) for the Office of Field Operations (OFO), a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Customers and Border Protection (CBP), was named the 2022 ‘ASTORS’ Government Leadership & Innovation Person of the Year.
As DEAC, Sabatino leads the CBP Office of Field Operations with more than 31,000 employees and oversees a budget of more than 6.6 billion dollars.
In a typical year, DEAC Sabatino oversees the facilitation of legitimate travel for more than 410 million travelers in the air, land, and maritime environments. In the cargo environment, she oversees the review of more than 29 million cargo containers to identify high-risk shipments, which includes the processing of more than 5.2 million containers.
The 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Leadership & Innovation Person of the Year award winners include in 2021 TSA Administrator and 26th Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard David P. Bratton, was recognized with this prestigious honor.

The keynote address was provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner (DEAC) Diane Sabatino, who described the changes to CBP through the tragedy of 9/11 and the relentless commitment to its mission and ongoing investment in the latest technologies and innovations to protect our borders and Homeland.
The resounding theme of the DEAC’s remarks was her pride in the women and men of the CBP and their families who support them.
AST was also joined by Legendary Police Commissioner William Bratton, who spoke, as always, about his love for the City of New York, the Profession of law enforcement to which he has dedicated his life, and for which he continues to drive thought leadership and innovation.
New York City Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Department Kenneth Corey, came out to address Luncheon attendees and shared some of his experiences and the changes in policing he’s witnessed over his more than three decades of service.
FDNY Chief Joseph Jardin honored the men and women of the FDNY, not only those who currently serve but all of those who have selflessly served, with a special recognition of those lost on 9/11.
Chief Jardin spoke about the continuing health battle of many following 9/11 with cancer and respiratory disease, yet now knowing the full consequences, would not have made a different decision to respond.
As Chief Jardin noted, mission-driven service is in the lifeblood of every firefighter, volunteer and sworn and has been so throughout the history of the Fire Service.
