Genasys Emergency Management and Zonehaven Evacuation Solutions are Helping to Protect More than 10 Million U.S. Residents, from 2021 Double 'ASTORS' Awards Winner Genasys Inc.

Genasys Inc., a global leader in critical communications systems and solutions that help protect and keep people safe, and a Double Award Winner in the 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, have been awarded a multi-year Genasys Emergency Management (GEM) and Zonehaven software-as-a-service (SaaS) annual recurring revenue contracts in California, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, and Texas.

These new contracts include Colorado Springs, which will be the first city in Colorado to implement Zonehaven emergency evacuation resources.

“Last December’s Marshall Fire that burned more than 1,000 homes in Boulder County CO, and recent fires and evacuations in Florida, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, confirm wildfires are now a year-round threat in many states,” explains Richard S. Danforth, Chief Executive Officer, Genasys Inc.

Zonehaven provides counties and communities with zone-specific notifications, including evacuation status, live incident updates, real-time weather, road and traffic conditions, nearby shelters, and other essential information, to better protect residents during wildfires and other crisis situations.

“In addition to the Zonehaven contract, the University of California Irvine (Cal Irvine), the City of Riverdale, Georgia, the Kentucky National Guard, Newton County, Missouri, and the City of Gladewater, Texas, have each entered into GEM agreements.”

“The Cal Irvine contract expands the critical communication services Genasys is providing to help keep students, staff and faculty safe. More GEM and Zonehaven contracts are anticipated this quarter,” added Mr. Danforth.

Genasys Emergency Management (GEM)

Genasys Emergency Management software adds a powerful and intuitive orchestration and management layer on top of existing physical and digital infrastructure—enhancing clarity, reach and range when managing critical events.

High-risk situations are on the rise. Communities, homes, and businesses are subject to greater threats from natural disasters, epidemics, civil unrest, and active shooters.

(GEM is the only unified critical communications platform that combines hardware, software, and geo-data analytics. The perfect tool for effective critical communications and evacuation management. Courtesy of Genasys Inc.)

Keep residents, staff, and constituents safe by keeping them informed through multichannel critical communications alerting and evacuation management.

GEM empowers emergency managers to initiate and track alerts, and quickly respond to alert replies from hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people during disasters and other crises.

Featuring multi-channel, multi-agency alerting, GEM delivers notifications via voice calls, SMS messages, email, desktop alerts, social media, IPAWS and other communication channels.

Zonehaven helps first responders plan, train, and execute live evacuations.

Zonehaven provides first responders and public safety workers with a comprehensive set of tools to navigate the evacuation process.

It also reduces evacuation time from hours to minutes by incorporating hyperlocal knowledge to model evolving disasters and the subsequent impact on evacuation zones, traffic patterns, and public safety.

Zonehaven evacuation resources have been utilized to support communications and evacuations across multiple jurisdictions during major wildfires, active shooter incidents, and debris flow hazards.

Integrated Mass Notification Systems (IMNS)

Genasys also recently introduced the new next-generation IMNS Edge 600, Genasys’ integrated, indoor/outdoor control cabinet that remotely operates mass notification and public address systems.

The Edge 600 is Genasys’ smallest cabinet, increasing the number of possible sites capable of utilizing Genasys’ cutting-edge mass notification technology.

The most economically priced cabinet available, the Edge 600 is streamlined yet still compatible with Genasys mass notification systems and includes a full-featured onboard microprocessor with a 10/100 Mbps TCP/IP network interface.

GEM software connects to the Edge 600 over the TCP/IP network to activate and broadcast recorded messages, alert tones, or live speech.

In addition to the Edge 600, the utility company installations include GEM’s public address over IP functionality to provide live messaging from a command center or mobile phone.

“This installation of the Edge 600 and GEM software creates many business opportunities with the 50 cities in Japan that previously installed IMNS outdoor speakers, and with critical infrastructure facilities globally,” said CEO Danforth.

“When powered by GEM software, the weatherized Edge 600 enables operators to initiate emergency warning and critical notification broadcasts from anywhere in the world.”

“We also received our first next-generation IMNS order from the U.S. Army.”

“The order includes Edge 600 cabinets and 32 Genasys outdoor speakers that are scheduled to be installed at Ft. Bliss, Texas for public address and emergency notifications.”

“To date, we have received more than $10 million in IMNS orders from the U.S. Army with further IMNS orders expected.”

Constructed using Type 5052H-32 aluminum and REACH and RoHS compliant, NEMA 4 certified, and weatherized for severe environments, the Edge 600 includes state-of-the-art Class D power amplifiers and a full-featured TCP/IP network-capable onboard processor.

Fully compatible with third-party speakers and other mass notification systems, the rugged, reliable Edge 600 ensures critical communications are delivered.
