The family members of the U.S. troops killed during a suicide bombing attack during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal are slamming President Biden and his military leadership as ‘incompetent, cowards, evil.’

The gold star families of the 13 U.S. service members killed in Kabul, Afghanistan, participated in a public forum Tuesday in Escondido, California, organized by Rep. Darrell Issa.

A suicide bomber detonated his deadly payload outside of the Abbey Gate at Kabul’s international airport on August 26, 2021, killing 13 American service members and at least 170 Afghans amid the chaos of the exit.

The families are seeking accountability and closure from the Biden administration almost two years later.

Kelly Barnett, Gold Star mother of Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin Hoover called Biden and his military leadership ‘incompetent, cowards, evil.’

‘I want justice. I want accountability,’ she added during her tearful testimony.

Not a single Biden administration official has taken the blame for the horrors that unfolded during the withdrawal.

Darin Hoover, the father of Sgt. Hoover, called out President Biden and his military leaders including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, and demanded they resign ‘immediately.’

‘Do what our son did. Be a grown a** man and admit your mistakes, so that this never ever ever ever happens again.

‘You all need to resign immediately,’ he added.

‘Our sons and daughters have more integrity in their little toes than every one of them combined. You owe it to our families here today.’

Christy Shamblin, the mother-in-law of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee, said that the Biden administration’s labeling of the withdrawal as a ‘success’ is like a ‘knife in the heart.’

‘We want to make sure that while we can’t bring our children back, the next ones will be treated with more respect. The respect that they earned by dying for our country.’

‘When our leaders – including Secretary of Defense and our commander in chief – called this evacuation a success, as if there should be celebration, it is like a knife in the heart for our families and for the people who came back.

And for every service member who served over this 20-year war.’

‘These deaths were preventable, my daughter could be with us today,’ she said.

It was ‘many decisions’ that led to her death, Shamblin added.

‘Calling it a success is an ultimate disrespect for the very people who deserve every ounce of respect we can give them.’

Cheryl Rex, mother of Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola said during her testimony: ‘When [Biden] approached me, his words to me were, ‘My wife, Jill and I, know how you feel. We lost our son as well and brought him home in a flag draped coffin.”

‘My heart started beating faster and I started shaking, knowing that their son died from cancer and they were able to be by his side.

How could someone be so heartless to say he knew how I felt,’ she continued.

The seven survivors of the blast at Abbey Gate have since committed suicide and were never honored by the Biden administration, added Coral Briseno – mother of Cpl. Humberto Sanchez.

Editor’s note: As the mother of a newly retired U.S. Marine and the grandmother of an RCT currently training on Parris Island, I cannot begin to imagine the heartbreak of the families, loved ones, and fellow service members of these brave warfighters who were murdered in this heinous attack.

Our thoughts and prayers are with – and will remain with each of them – alongside the 18+ other service members whose lives were at risk and who were wounded while supporting evacuating thousands of people out of Kabul on dozens of military cargo aircraft flights.

Thank you for your service and dedication to the United States of America. Your lives matter, and you will not be forgotten.

(Lcpl Kareem Nikoui, age 20, was serving with the US Marine Corps in Afghanistan when he was sadly killed on August 26, 2021, along with 12 others at the airport in Kabul when a bomb exploded sadly killing all of them and injuring many others. Nikoui was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Lance Corporal Nikoui died while carrying out a mission to rescue fellow U.S. citizens and our allies in grave danger. When his nation needed him, he answered the call without hesitation. As a proud Marine, Lance Corporal Nikoui and his unit put themselves in harms way in order to provide safety to others. That’s the definition of courage. That’s the embodiment of the Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis. Through his brave actions, Lance Corporal Nikoui remained faithful to his fellow Marines, his country, and our citizens.
