As an official kick-off for Military Appreciation Month on May 3rd, 2022, hundreds of dignitaries, veterans, volunteers, supporters and leaders of the Honor Flight Network will gather at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the organization’s milestone of bringing 250,000 veterans to our Nation’s Capitol to visit the memorials that honor their service and sacrifice.
The Honorable Elizabeth Dole is set to serve as Event Chairperson in honor of her late husband, Senator Bob Dole, a WWII veteran.
The Dole family are a long-time supporters of the Honor Flight Network.

“Every Saturday morning that Bob and I spent greeting Honor Flight veterans at the World War II Memorial was a reminder that time does not diminish our veterans’ pride, emotions, or memories, even decades after returning home,” said Dole.
“Honor Flight gives these veterans a remarkable gift—the gift of feeling the support and gratitude of their fellow Americans while experiencing the memorials that will stand in their honor, forever.”
“Every American should feel compelled to support such a mission.”

In addition to Senator Dole, Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs Donald M. Remy, Senator Jerry Moran, and Congressman Mark Takano are slated to deliver remarks, as well as leaders and sponsors of the Honor Flight Network.
Distinguished invited guests include the White House, Members of Congress, key members of the Biden Administration, and the Department of Defense.
“The Honor Flight program fosters deep connections among veterans through the shared bond of serving our country and the profound experiences from visiting the memorials,” explained Meredith Rosenbeck, Honor Flight Network’s Chief Executive Officer.
“This event celebrates the program’s great successes of the past and bolsters our future of serving new generations of veterans.”
Sponsors for the event include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Clear Secure, Inc., Snap-on, Inc., and Veterans United Home Loans.
Each year, with the help of volunteers and generous partners, Honor Flight Network coordinates the travel of approximately 25,000 veterans from around the country to the memorials and monuments in Washington, D.C. All honored veterans travel at no cost to them.
Participation in an Honor Flight trip allows veterans to experience the monuments built in their honor alongside their comrades and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
We want to celebrate our 250,000 Veterans with you!

Honor Flight Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a waiting list of approximately 50,000 veterans eager to visit the memorials built in honor of those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice.
Generous private donations and corporate support can help the Honor Flight Network give veterans the exhilarating experience of visiting our nation’s war memorials that the 250,000 before them had.
The Honor Flight Network was formed in 2005 with a mission of honoring our nation’s veterans by bringing them to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials and monuments dedicated to their service and sacrifice.
The Honor Flight Network is currently comprised of over 130 hubs throughout the country dedicated to carrying out the Honor Flight mission.
In addition to World War II veterans, the organization transports those who served in the Korean War, Vietnam War, intermediary operations, and in special cases of terminal illness or injury, veterans from more recent service eras.
Since 2005, the Honor Flight Network has taken 250,000 veterans to Washington D.C.
