Weld County Sheriff’s deputy Alexis Hein-Nutz

“After many years of dreaming of being in law enforcement, I can finally say I am officially following my dreams,” Weld County Sheriff’s deputy Alexis Hein-Nutz wrote in a 2018 Facebook post after graduating from the jail academy, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputy Hein-Nutz was killed in a hit and run by a man reportedly under the influence at the time of the crash. She was a week away from her 25th birthday.
