IPVideo Corporation, the Gold Award Winner for Best Alert Notification System in the 2018 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, has also been recognized with the Best New Product award for its HALO IOT Smart Sensor solution in the 2019 SIA New Product Showcase (NPS).
HALO IOT Smart Sensor has the unique ability to provide IoT sensing as event-based triggers to provide security in privacy concern areas where traditional security cameras and solutions are not practical.
HALO uses multiple sensors together in a single intelligent platform to learn, analyze and create event alerts.
When HALO was designed, it was intended for limited applications doing vape detection and audio analytics to combat the vaping and active shooter epidemics in K12 schools, but has since grown to address multiple areas of concern within government agencies, corporate facilities and campus facilities.
HALO has advanced audio analytics for aggression detection, glass break and gunshots, and can send alerts when unusual activity occurs.
The air quality sensors measure things like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, chemicals such as ammonia and oxidizers as well as methane, propane and natural gas leaks.
HALO’s light detection sensors are utilized for sensitivity, lighting levels and room occupancy. These are coupled with built in temperature and humidity sensors.
The additional integration with POE lighting provides unique safety measures like providing emergency directional lighting for the hearing impaired.
HALO goes to a whole new level as a security solution by providing advanced warning related to health issues including air quality, vape or smoke detection.
With HALO, designated personnel can be alerted when environmental changes occur in typically unsupervised areas, by detecting flammables, hazardous chemicals, air quality changes, such as vaping and changes in temperature and humidity.
HALO can save lives and we expect it will become the standard for government facilities.

“SIA’s New Product Showcase calls security companies to develop extraordinary, innovative products and solutions, and this year’s winners represent the best new offerings in the market,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson.
“SIA congratulates all the companies who received awards in 2019, particularly IPVideo’s HALO IOT Smart Sensor for standing out among the entries in this highly competitive program to earn the Best New Product distinction.”
Applications that benefit from HALO IOT Multi-Sensors include bathrooms, locker rooms, classrooms, hallways, basements, prison cells, stairwells, break rooms, storage closets, kitchens, work areas, common rooms, etc.
“Schools can now add an added layer of security in places normally not covered by traditional surveillance cameras,” states David Antar, President of IPVideo Corp.
“We are using the latest in IoT technology coupled with sophisticated analytics to help alert school personnel in real-time of any possible threats affecting their school.”
Automated situational awareness is the key to improving safety and security in schools and other potentially vulnerable indoor areas where people gather, and IPVideo is on the forefront of this new technology.
HALO can detect room occupancy, sound frequency, gunshots, aggressive behavior, smoking, motion & light detection, temperature and humidity changes as well as dangerous compounds present.
IPVideo’s HALO alerts security personnel to environmental changes caused by vape and smoking in normally unsupervised areas such as bathrooms, classrooms and hallways.
In addition, HALO can also detect fluctuations in noise levels to help identify and alert security personnel about aggressive behavior such as gun shots or yelling; making it the perfect tool for preventing an incident taking place on school grounds, holding cells, jails correctional facilities and more.
HALO can also analyze room occupancy and provide alerts as to where students and staff are located in an emergency event.
IPVideo Corporation is at the forefront of developing unique, innovative solutions from physical security solutions that bridge to the Internet of Things, to purpose-built HD audio/video recording solutions for education, law enforcement, healthcare, and beyond.
And HALO is the latest in IOT technology coupled with sophisticated analytics.
Axis Communications, the 2018 ‘ASTORS’ Platinum Award Winner for Best Thermal, Infrared Camera System, received the NPS Merit Award, presented each year to an individual or company who, through their participation and support of the NPS, demonstrates a commitment to the vision and mission of the NPS, contributes to the success of the program and, in so doing, promotes the advancement of SIA and the security industry overall.
The AXIS Q87 Bispectral PTZ Network Camera Series, bring a powerful, and cost effective combination of visual and thermal video streams in a single PTZ camera for higher fidelity and increased situational awareness to border surveillance and other applications.
With two bispectral video streams converging at one camera view and a single IP address, integrators and security system managers will benefit from AXIS Q87 Bispectral PTZ Network Cameras’ long-distance thermal detection, visual identification and advanced PTZ capabilities.
The cameras in this series, including the AXIS Q8741-E, AXIS Q8741-LE, AXIS Q8742-E and AXIS Q8742-LE, let operators choose between super-slow or super-fast pan (from 0.05 to 120 degrees per second) and tilt movement (from 0.05 to 65 degrees per second).
The results are smooth, jerk-free panoramic viewing when it’s needed most, increasing response time from security system administrators in the event of an intruder or when a timely reaction is needed at a site location.
(A new generation of bispectral positioning cameras, giving operators faster and more accurate pan and tilt capabilities to monitor borders in real-time and are able to respond instantly to security alerts and incidents. Thanks to their enhanced capabilities, the new range of AXIS Q87 cameras enable surveillance across vast sites with fewer cameras, with the potential for 360-degree unobstructed field of view and at all times, and 135-degree field of view from ground to sky. All you need is one camera, offering one IP address, one web interface with dual view and one PTZ control with two bispectral video streams. Courtesy of Axis Communications and YouTube.)
With thermal zoom models (AXIS Q8742-E Zoom and AXIS Q8742-LE Zoom), integrators and security system administrators get three times the thermal zoom, capable of detecting a human as far as 3342 yards away, according to Johnson’s criteria.
The long-distance detection is useful for mission critical use cases, such as detecting vehicles or intruders from afar. The cameras can be column-mounted, on poles or walls for a 360° panoramic view and a ground-to-sky view from -90° to +45°.
AXIS Q87 Bispectral PTZ Network Camera Series’ slim design and many available accessories let integrators and system administrators install their choice PTZ Network camera anywhere they want.
It has an SFP slot to support cost-effective, long-distance fiber-optic connections. Designed for outdoor use, its 22 meter (72 feet) long, heavy-duty power cable has 3-wire, 12AWG and a jacket diameter of 10 mm (0.4 in) and the cameras can operate in temperatures ranging from -58 ºF to 131 ºF and combat against strong winds when in motion.
