LRAD Corporation, a competitor in the 2016 AST Homeland Security Awards ‘ASTORS’ competition, has received $1.1 million in LRAD mass notification and perimeter security systems orders for critical infrastructure and other facilities in the United States.
The mass notification orders include ONE VOICE® acoustic systems to be installed at a major maritime port and integrated using LRAD command and control software.
LRAD’s omnidirectional ONE VOICE® systems combine warning sirens and highly intelligible voice broadcasts to provide advanced mass notification and public address solutions.
Antiquated warning systems sound sirens to alert of approaching danger, but most are incapable of clear voice broadcasts containing critical information about the severity of the situation and recommended actions to protect and save lives.
LRAD systems are self-contained or easily integrated with existing communications infrastructure.

New orders also include, a follow-on order for remotely operated LRAD 1000RX systems to provide perimeter safety and security for utility infrastructure, and an LRAD 360X system and accessories for a National Guard state headquarters. The orders are scheduled for delivery in calendar 2017.
LRAD-RX can be operated remotely across an IP network enabling system operators to respond to potential threats from a safe environment while creating a complete unmanned perimeter security solution.
LRAD-RX accepts intruder position information from other IP-enabled sensor systems to automatically find and track potential threats. LRAD-RX provides a large safety zone to give security personnel additional time and valuable information if an elevated intruder response becomes necessary.
LRAD-RX features an emitter head, integrated camera, high-intensity searchlight (optional) and LRAD Corporation’s full pan and tilt capability for precise aiming and tracking.
Audio output from LRAD-RX is highly directional so nearby personnel and system operators are not exposed to excessive audio levels, while still providing exceptional voice intelligibility and tonal clarity over long distances.
“An extensive selection process that included demonstrations by multiple industry suppliers preceded the receipt of our mass notification orders,” noted Richard S. Danforth, Chief Executive Officer of LRAD Corporation.
“LRAD was chosen not only for our superior acoustic systems, but also for our advanced, user friendly command and control software interface that easily integrates with software from third party mass notification providers.”

LRAD has revolutionized the way that sound is delivered by providing directed audio solutions that place clear, highly intelligible sound exactly where needed.
Featuring the mass notification industry’s highest Speech Transmission Index, LRAD ONE VOICE systems use advanced technology and superior intelligibility to broadcast attention-commanding warning siren tones and extraordinarily clear voice messages up to 12 sq. kilometers from a single installation.
By maintaining a smooth frequency response with an intensity variation of less than 5dB, LRAD overcomes the limitations of competitor systems by preventing audio fading and producing clear, unambiguous communication across all broadcast frequencies.
