NEC Awards $20K Grant to NJ Charity CUMAC for Security System (Video)

NEC Foundation of America has awarded a $20,000 grant to Paterson, New Jersey-based charity CUMAC.

CUMAC provides food, disaster relief, housing, job training and care to over 40,000 individuals annually – including children, the sick, elderly, disabled, homeless and hungry, victims of disasters and people in need of help during times of crises.

The NEC Foundation grant will help to fund the purchase and installation of technology systems upgrades and safety and property protection improvements to their 28,000 square foot warehouse, where their resources are stored.

“Employees at NEC Financial Services, in Saddle Brook, N.J identified CUMAC as a very effective organization in the local community where they volunteer their time, nominated CUMAC for an Empowerment Grant from NEC Foundation of America,” said Jeremy Strauss, Vice President, NEC Foundation of America.

“We hope this grant will assist CUMAC in their continued support of those in need.”

  • A food pantry that serves over 3,000 individuals every month
  • A food depot that handles nearly 2 million pounds of food for a network of over 50 agencies
  • A disaster relief program
  • A thrift shop that provides high quality, low cost items to the community
  • The Pathways to Work program that offers job training to those seeking gainful employment
  • The Place of Promise which provides a permanent supportive housing program for the chronically homeless, and
  • The Community Food Coalition, a collection of pantries working together to stop hunger in New Jersey
