Orolia Offers First Software-Defined GNSS Simulator with MNSA

Compared to traditional FPGA-based simulators, software-defined solutions such as BroadSim, powered by the advanced Skydel Simulation Engine, are inherently more flexible, scalable and cost-effective.

Orolia Defense & Security, a Multiple Platinum Award Winner in the 2019 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program nominated to compete in 2020, is pleased to announce the company has been granted security approval by SMC Production Corps located at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, California, for BroadSim MNSA (Modernized Navstar Security Algorithm).

SMC is the U.S. Air Force’s Center of Acquisition Excellence for acquiring and developing military space systems.

Its portfolio includes Global Positioning System (GPS), military satellite communications, defense meteorological satellites, space launch and range systems, satellite control networks, space-based infrared systems and space situational awareness capabilities.

BroadSim was developed to simplify the creation of advanced jamming and spoofing scenarios with Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) testing in mind, and supports high dynamics, jamming, spoofing, and encrypted military codes.

BroadSim is the only software-defined Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) simulator on the market to receive such approval, marking an industry first.

(The release of this feature means that without any additional hardware, users now have game-changing tools at their disposal to support spoofing simulation – something other solutions on the market have not attained. Additionally, Orolia delivered their first batch of MNSA M-Code to multiple customers in late August.

BroadSim MNSA joins P(Y)-Code and AES M-Code as another GPS encrypted signal that Orolia Defense & Security supports and is shipping today.

MNSA M-Code is being rolled out as a required standard across many defense platforms.

Engineers and system integrators must consider this in their testing cycles.

With high-performing hardware, a robust and innovative software engine, and an intuitive user interface; BroadSim outperforms and exceeds features offered by the competition.

Orolia has streamlined previously tedious processes and are available with expert support to guide them every step of the way.

BroadSim is a proven and trusted solution among government, DoD and military customers with over 100 systems fielded, and was recently selected by the US military to support diverse testing of military GPS receivers.

Compared to traditional FPGA-based simulators, software-defined solutions such as BroadSim, powered by the advanced Skydel Simulation Engine, are inherently more flexible, scalable and cost-effective.

BroadSim MNSA users receive a step-by-step guide allowing them to effortlessly set-up and generate MNSA in minutes and quickly downgrade the system on a moment’s notice.

This capability is available today as a software upgrade to current BroadSim users or as a purchase alongside Orolia’s BroadSim hardware platform.

Tyler Hohman, Director of Products at Orolia Defense & Security

“Thought, skill, and patience went into developing this solution,” explained Tyler Hohman, Orolia Defense & Security Director of Products.

“Not only have we taken an innovative approach to ensuring the security of this technology, our implementation was designed with ease of use being top-of-mind – from procurement, to delivery, to installation, to testing – so our customers can spend more time supporting their mission and less time making their simulator work.”

The Automation panel makes automating GNSS simulation an easy task by automatically recording everything that happens in the Skydel UI, and any commands issued through the API. These commands can then be edited, saved, and played back as a sequence, much like a macro. Courtesy of Orolia and YouTube. Posted on Sep 10, 2020.)
