Real-Time Optimization: InstaMesh® Technology
Kinetic Mesh® networks utilize Rajant’s patented peer-to-peer InstaMesh networking technology to perform real-time evaluation and direct traffic via the fastest pathways between any wired, wireless, or in-motion points.
InstaMesh is able to dynamically optimize performance as network characteristics change, whether nodes are added or subtracted, frequencies are opened or blocked, or the assets it connects are moved over large areas.
When a user changes, moves, or disables a device in the network, that change only needs to be managed locally, not propagated throughout the network.
As a completely distributed protocol, InstaMesh responds rapidly to network topology changes to ensure robust fault tolerance, high throughput and low latency.
Enables the Kinetic Mesh® Network’s Full Mobility
Unlike traditional meshing technologies, which rely on a single stationery controller node to manage decisions across the network, every node in a Kinetic Mesh®network can act independently.
The InstaMesh protocol seamlessly networks fixed, wireless, and mobile nodes together and will dynamically redirect traffic between the next best available points if any one peer is compromised or obstructed.
This self-healing capability not only provides for no single point of failure, but enables network nodes to seamlessly switch between available radio frequencies based on best-path analysis at the node level.
Makes Real-Time Decisions on a Packet by Packet Basis
InstaMesh always prefers the fastest path to any destination, based on the state of the network at the time at which each packet needs to be transmitted.
Each node learns and constantly reevaluates the best link to use for each destination in real time by analyzing every packet flowing through it.
This approach allows the Kinetic Mesh® network to make extremely fast decisions and react immediately to changing network conditions, without consuming excessive bandwidth for overhead messages.
Provides Proprietary Advantage but is Standards Aligned
While InstaMesh leverages a proprietary algorithm, it is fully compatible with 802.11 standards. The protocol sends packages over Layer 2.
If your voice, video, and data communications can be sent over Ethernet, it can be sent over the Kinetic Mesh® network.
Kinetic Mesh Networks in Munipalities & Public Safety: Connecting Constituents, Creating ‘Smart’ Cities
Today’s municipalities need networks that can satisfy a dense and broad range of users and applications, all of which are becoming more mobile.
In addition to providing anytime, anywhere connectivity for personal, business, and governmental applications, municipal networks must support broad-reaching public safety initiatives.
Rajant Kinetic Mesh® technology seamlessly integrates with existing communications infrastructure to support these highly varied users and needs: all in a way that lowers total ownership costs and management complexity while helping to drive economic growth.
Add Critical Mobile Functionality to Existing Network Investments.
Rajant Kinetic Mesh® networks can fully interoperate with point-to-point, microwave, and traditional mesh networks, allowing municipalities to retain their current infrastructure and add to it a powerful mobility solution to address growing mobile demands.
Eliminate costly leased line fees with a higher performance, lower cost network option that can be rapidly deployed, easily scaled, and simply managed.
The any-node to any-node communications enabled with Rajant’s BreadCrumbs ensures that no single point of failure throughout the network—which means workers and residents can stay connected on the go (even on public transportation), and that police, firefighters, and emergency units to take their data and communications anywhere, for rapid, real-time response.
Remove Points of Failure for Critical First Response Communications.
Whether in an urban city or remote locale, Rajant Kinetic Mesh® networks allow first responders to access vital voice, data and video communications, and remain confident that the connection will be available wherever they travel.
Traditional mesh networking technologies offer mobile capabilities but are hindered by a vulnerable, static ‘controller’ node which can compromise the entire network if affected.
Alternatively, Rajant’s Kinetic Mesh®network is designed so that all BreadCrumb nodes can be in motion all the time, using InstaMesh technology to automatically route packet over the best available frequency so that blocked, jammed or unavailable frequencies do not mean failure.
Enable Real-Time Awareness to Create Safe Communities.
Additionally, Rajant Kinetic Mesh® networks allow communities to improve situational awareness with high-bandwidth transmission of security and surveillance monitoring data.
Massive amounts of video data can be delivered with high throughput and low latency across the network, bringing public safety workers the visibility they need to identify potential threats and issues early, and transforming monitoring outcomes from reactive actions to proactive opportunities to advance security.
Create Draw to Your City Through Smart Innovation.
Frost & Sullivan defines a smart city as built on ‘intelligent’ solutions and technology that drive innovation in 8 key areas, including smart mobility and smart connectivity.
These are the cities of the future, and Rajant can help your municipality evolve its network infrastructure to take advantage of the rapid trend to provide fully integrated, intelligent services to all constituents—increasing the speed and quality of service delivered by departments at every level to drive economic growth.
