Ross Architectural Security in ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards

Ross Technology’s Architectural Security Windows and Doors, have been nominated to compete in the 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards program.

While we live in a world of complex security threats, it’s reassuring to know there’s an ever-growing supply of products being developed and manufactured to provide advanced protection.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, there has been over a nine-fold increase in the number of deaths from terrorism, rising from 3,329 in 2000 to 32,685 in 2014.

Architectural security windows, doors, louvers and escape hatches are no exception to this trend and are playing a greater role in securing building envelopes for government, commercial and residential properties each year.

Available in a wide range of materials and configurations to resist an equally wide range of blast, ballistic and forced-entry attacks.

Ross Technology, a leading manufacturer of architectural and perimeter security products, has provided safe environments for people to travel, shop, eat and work for more than 50 years.

The company has worked on hundreds of U.S. embassies, consulates and a multitude of international government and commercial projects on six different continents.

Ross applies decades of experience to design, test and manufacture advanced physical security solutions for high-risk facilities.

Ross has been the incumbent Government Provided Equipment (GPE) contract holder by the U.S. Department of State to supply for Forced-Entry/Ballistic Resistant (FE/BR) windows since 2005, and throughout that time has provided products to over 50 embassies and consulates.

In addition to supplying FE/BR windows, Ross is now trusted to provide FE/BR doors as part of a new U.S. DOS government contract.

Mark Heberlein, Ross Technology’s Architectural Security Product Manager, recognizes the magnitude of the GPE Award.

“We’ve worked very hard to provide the highest quality products and service to the Department of State over the past 12 years. It speaks volumes that, in addition to awarding us the window contract again, they’ve entrusted us to fulfill the requirement for the doors as well.”

Ross Architectural Security Windows and Doors are tested to the U.S. Department of State threat mitigation standards.

Architectural Security Products

Fenestration products designed to defend against smash and grab attacks or handguns do not offer adequate protection for advanced threats.

Engineered and tested to meet Department of State, UL 752, NIJ III and other rigorous industry standards, Ross Technology’s line of Architectural Security products are designed to resist mob-level forced entry attacks, rifle-level ballistic threats, high-blast loads and combined threat scenarios.

Advanced Solutions for Elevated Threat Conditions

As radical criminals and organized terrorists grow in numbers and dedication to their cause, one thing remains clear- not only are attacks becoming more frequent, they are also becoming increasingly violent in hopes of maximizing destruction.

This reinforces the importance of incorporating preventative measures and products that are engineered and tested to the industry’s highest standards.

These products integrate high-level FE/BR and blast-resistant protection while meeting increasingly stringent requirements for aesthetics, functionality and environmental stewardship.

Ross engineers work closely with design professionals to ensure product designs comply with mainstay architectural principles, while staying within the bounds of the products’ tested conditions and materials.

They also provide early design assistance, which allows design professionals to create custom solutions and proper bidding documents before a building design is finalized and sent to bid.

Products are tested under simulated “mob” attack scenarios to ensure protection against a variety of threats.

Depending upon the level of threat, a range of resistance is available to ward off attackers for approximately 5, 15 and 60 minutes.

Additionally, products are tested to withstand 5.56 M193, 5.56 M855 and 7.62 M80 ballistic rounds. Some products can be engineered to resist blast loads up to 40 psi/300psi-ms and beyond.
