SafeSky Competes in ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards (Video)

Advanced Protection Systems is pleased to announce that SafeSky, the company’s SafeSky – Counter UAV System, has been nominated in the 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program.

SafeSky is a unique, multi-sensor drone detection and tracking system that allows effective detection and neutralization of drones day and night in any weather conditions without blind zones providing true dome/umbrella like protection.

A combination of proprietary radar, acoustic, vision and RF sensors enables minimized alarm rates detection of small drones at a distance of at least 1000 m.

SafeSky has been recently deployed to protect UEFA EURO U21 football stadium in Gdynia against malevolent use of drones.

It also already protects other installations as prisons, hotels, private properties, manufacturing companies and some governmental installations.

What makes SafeSky unique is a combination of four different sensors based on proprietary technologies and developed specifically to detect and identify drones.

Furthermore, radar sensors are miniaturized and low power, while intelligent signal processing allows to differentiate drones from birds for minimized alarm rates.Radars, being the primary sensor, are based on proprietary space technology – developed within numerous projects of the company with European Space Agency.

Acoustic array conducts beam forming in space detecting direction of sound sources.

Special machine learning algorithms allow to identify drones from among other potential sound sources, ignoring background noise.

Radars allow to point the PTZ camera into the right portion of space so that visual domain identification is possible and effective.Vision camera employs dedicated image processing algorithms that detect, identify and track drones.

RF sensor captures transmissions between the drone and its operator. It allows users to identify drone type.

If a number of RF sensors is deployed in a given site, drone operator can be localized and his/her position indicated.

All SafeSky sensors data is fused and result is presented in an integrated software environment. No drone zones are easily defined.

Alarms are issued via sms, email and in graphical and sound form when drone approaches protected zone.

SafeSky application is web based and can be run both on desktop computers and tablets for untethered operation.

SafeSky
SafeSky system comes with a friendly to use, web based software that integrates outputs from the sensors and archives incidents as well as notifies security officers about the incident via sms, email and system alert.

On the Neutralization Side, SafeSky Employs a Layered Approach

APS - Advanced Protection Systems, ORION drone detection systemBrute force directive jammers are employed and/or drone hacking.

Which countermeasures are used depends primarily on the legal context – jammers cannot be legally used in many places.

Applied countermeasures force drone to return to its operator or make drone land safely in a controlled manner.

Software

A dedicated, web-based application has been developed that is friendly to use and allows authorized access for a defined group of users, both from a PC, laptop or a tablet.

It provides the following features:

  • Monitoring defined airspace
  • Definition of the protected area
  • Easy deployment of a number of sensors
  • Radar, acoustic and camera sensors integration
  • Visualizing the scene on maps and Google maps
  • Tracking multiple targets
  • Archiving incident data
  • Sms, email and system alerts
  • Easy interfacing to common security systems

Neutralization

Advanced Protection Systems Professional Jamming System

Additionally, Advanced Protection Systems, offer a professional jamming system manufactured by their partner HP Marketing & Consulting.

Both omni-directional jammer and a directive, shoulder-mounted jammer are available.

Jamming of RF transmissions between the drone and its operator as well as GPS/GLONASS/Galileo signals is provided.

Interfacing to SafeSky Drone Detection System is available. Jamming is effective up to 500 m range.

SafeSky is Modular and Scalable

A different configuration of sensors can be applied, either on a single mast for stationary deployment or on a tripod for increased mobility.

Radars come in different form, with different coverage angles, output powers and operating frequencies to optimally serve different clients.

If a really large area needs to be protected, e.g an airport, a number of SafeSky units can be easily connected – it is a scalable design.

SafeSky in 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program

The 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, is organized to recognize the most distinguished vendors of Physical, IT, Port Security, Law Enforcement, First Responders, (Fire, EMT, Military, Support Services Vets, SBA, Medical Tech) as well as the Federal, State, County and Municipal Government Agencies – to acknowledge their outstanding efforts to ‘Keep our Nation Secure, One City at a Time.’

As an ‘ASTORS’ competitor, SafeSky will be competing against the industry’s leading providers of Innovative Perimeter Protection Solutions.

ASTORS HSA 2017Good luck to SafeSky, by Advanced Protection Systems, on becoming a Winner of the 2017 American Security Today’s Homeland Security Awards Program!
