Serious Threats Demand Serious Protection (Crash Test Video & More)

The 2015 Global Terrorism Index, published by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), is a sobering reminder that we live in a changing world.

From 2013 to 2014, the total number of deaths from terrorism increased by 80% – the largest yearly increase in the last 15 years.

In fact, since the beginning of the 21st century, there has been over a nine-fold increase in the number of deaths from terrorism, rising from 3,329 in 2000 to 32,685 in 2014.

While attacks remain highly concentrated, with a majority of incidents and deaths in just five countries (Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria), 67 total countries experienced at least one death due to terrorism.

Beyond the human toll, the IEP estimates the economic cost of terrorism has reached its highest level, at more than $52.9 billion per year.

Advanced Solutions for Elevated Threat Conditions

As radical criminals and organized terrorists grow in numbers and dedication to their cause, one thing remains clear- not only are attacks becoming more frequent, they are also becoming increasingly violent in hopes of maximizing destruction.

This reinforces the importance of incorporating preventative measures and products that are engineered and tested to the industry’s highest standards.

Architectural Security Products

Fenestration products designed to defend against smash and grab attacks or handguns do not offer adequate protection for advanced threats.

Engineered and tested to meet Department of State, UL 752, NIJ III and other rigorous industry standards, Ross Technology’s line of Architectural Security products are designed to resist mob-level forced entry attacks, rifle-level ballistic threats, high-blast loads and combined threat scenarios.

Products include:

  • Windows and Deal Trays
  • Doors
  • Louvers
  • Roof/Escape Hatches

These products integrate high-level FE/BR and blast-resistant protection while meeting increasingly stringent requirements for aesthetics, functionality and environmental stewardship.

Ross engineers work closely with design professionals to ensure product designs comply with mainstay architectural principles, while staying within the bounds of the products’ tested conditions and materials.

They also provide early design assistance, which allows design professionals to create custom solutions and proper bidding documents before a building design is finalized and sent to bid.

Products are tested under simulated “mob” attack scenarios to ensure protection against a variety of threats.

Depending upon the level of threat, a range of resistance is available to ward off attackers for approximately 5, 15 and 60 minutes.

Additionally, products are tested to withstand 5.56 M193, 5.56 M855 and 7.62 M80 ballistic rounds. Some products can be engineered to resist blast loads up to 40 psi/300psi-ms and beyond.

Perimeter Security Products

In addition to custom architectural building products, Ross Technology designs and manufactures a variety of unique crash-tested perimeter security solutions that go beyond providing simple traffic control and security to address the threat of vehicle-borne attacks.

Ross specializes in heavy duty and crash tested systems—as opposed to engineer rated systems—and uses only the highest grade electro-mechanical and hydraulic power components.

Every Ross barrier is hot-dip galvanized per ASTM A123 as part of our standard finish to prevent corrosion.

Perimeter security solutions from Ross are engineered to protect facility entrances and boundaries against commercial trucks traveling at high rates of speed. They are tested to meet the highest threat levels of the Department of State and ASTM standards for vehicle crash testing.
