Using separate perimeter security systems such as intrusion detection sensors, video surveillance, video analytics, and access control to create multi-layered solutions has greatly increased the ability to deter, detect, assess, and respond to intrusion attempts.
However, integrating, monitoring, and managing these different systems can be time-consuming and costly.
That’s why a major trend in the industry over the past several years has been to unify separate systems by having them managed in one central place.
The Senstar Symphony™ Common Operating Platform was specifically designed to address this need.
Launched in 2021 and recognized with the Platinum distinction in the Best IP Video Surveillance Solution Category of the 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, Senstar Symphony is providing key markets–utilities, logistics, corrections, and energy–with system confidence, enabling security operators to focus on what’s important, namely a quick and efficient response to real security threats.
(Central to Senstar’s vision of unifying security and operations is Senstar Symphony, Senstar’s video, security, and information management platform. Courtesy of Senstar and YouTube.)
The Senstar Symphony Common Operating Platform is an open, highly scalable video management system with built-in video analytics that include full-featured access control and perimeter intrusion detection modules.
Senstar Symphony capabilities include:
Intelligent Video Management for Any Organization
An open platform, Senstar Symphony supports cameras from all major vendors and easily scales to any size.
With intuitive operator clients, simple per-camera licensing, and built-in high availability, Senstar Symphony is the ideal high-performance video management solution.
AI-Powered Video Analytics
By leveraging existing video surveillance infrastructure, Senstar Symphony video analytics is a highly cost-effective means to augment security with new detection capabilities, direct attention to key events, automate access control and other facility functions, and collect data on customer behavior.
(The business intelligence gathered through monitoring video surveillance streams in real-time using video analytics software, helps to identify patterns, attributes, and events of interest. Close human-based monitoring of many video feeds is simply not possible. With video analytics, the system can alert video operators of key events and automatically trigger specific actions or procedures. Courtesy of Senstar Corp and YouTube.)
Integrated Incident and Alarm Management
A full-featured security management system (SMS), Senstar Symphony delivers a consolidated view of incidents from any source, including intrusion sensors, video analytics, access control, and other security devices.
Its visual, map-based interface provides a streamlined user experience for operators handling everything from daily routines to crisis situations.
(What is Security Management? The end goal of security management is to create and implement policies and procedures to protect people, buildings, information assets, machines, and systems. This requires an audit to identify assets and the development of security policies and procedures to protect those assets. Courtesy of Senstar Corp and YouTube.)
Unified Access Control with Video Surveillance
A complete access control system, Senstar Symphony supports industry-standard hardware and fully integrates access control events with video and alarm management.
By combining video surveillance with analytics, security sensors, and data from manufacturing or logistics systems, organizations can monitor operations, detect abnormalities, and implement corrective actions.

A highly cost-effective solution, the Senstar Symphony™ Common Operating Platform is licensed per security device (camera, door, or sensor), simplifying deployment and scalability concerns.
All managed devices report to a shared rules and alarms management system, enabling operators to perform site security or operational functions from a streamlined, unified, easy-to-use interface.
Senstar Symphony also features high-performance architecture, an open ecosystem, privacy and cybersecurity, web-based administration, and intelligent search and investigation.
Perimeter Security Evolved: Sensor Fusion
What truly sets Senstar Symphony apart from other systems is its sensor fusion engine, a breakthrough technology that synthesizes data from separate systems to generate actionable information and addresses one of the top concerns for perimeter security – nuisance alarms.
(See how the Senstar Symphony Common Operating Platform with Sensor Fusion Engine can improve intrusion detection capacities and defeat nuisance alarms. It includes surveillance footage of different security scenarios that show the direct, real-world benefits. Courtesy of Senstar Corp and YouTube.)
The concept of sensor fusion technology is not new – the basic premise of combining multiple sensors together to benefit from their strengths while eliminating their weaknesses has been discussed for many years.
Historically, this meant a Boolean logic integration between two systems (typically a fence sensor and people tracking video analytics, or a fence sensor and buried sensor installed in parallel). This approach certainly can work to reduce nuisance alarms caused by well-defined, predicted events.
But a better approach is to introduce intelligence into the system by synthesizing low-level data from the separate systems to generate actionable information.
More than a simple Boolean logic integration, true sensor fusion analyzes real-time data alongside historical, locational, environmental, and classification data before generating an alarm.
When signal response data is synthesized between sensors from fence video analytic systems, nuisance alarms generated by wind or debris as well as a non-threat human activity are virtually eliminated, all while maintaining the highest probability of detection.
Sensor fusion also reduces false alarms created by typical video systems.
For example, falsely tracked and classified objects such as spiders building a web in front of the camera, water reflections, flashlights or car headlights, reflections from metallic objects and puddles (clouds) using thermal cameras, and existing perimeter lighting causing reflections during rain and snowfall.
True sensor fusion allows for the lowest possible nuisance alarm rate, leading to greater system confidence and better response times; improved probability of detection (Pd), as the individual sensors can use higher sensitivity settings and announce disturbance events faster; and simplified integration, as the alarm output arrives from a single source (sensor fusion engine).
The Senstar Symphony Common Operating Platform with sensor fusion engine is a game-changer in the security industry, offering users a seamless, fully integrated solution that offers a level of performance unmatched by any other system.
(Learn More about Physical Infrastructure Security, a broad term that refers to protecting persons and property from harm. Physical security involves using multiple layers of systems such as CCTV surveillance, locks, access control, fire protection, etc., to keep unauthorized persons away while protecting safety and well-being. With bold innovations like true sensor fusion, Senstar differentiates itself from other security companies and offers solutions that provide the highest level of performance while simplifying operational and budgetary concerns.
When it comes to protecting the perimeters of important sites, not all technologies are created equal. A layered approach ensures that if one technology misses a security threat, another technology captures it.
The Senstar Symphony™ Common Operating Platform provides unified perimeter security with video, security, and data intelligence in a single platform.
Senstar Takes Platinum in 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program
American Security Today’s Annual ‘ASTORS’ Awards is the preeminent U.S. Homeland Security Awards Program, and now entering it’s Seventh Year, continues to recognize industry leaders of Physical and Border Security, Cybersecurity, Emergency Preparedness – Management and Response, Law Enforcement, First Responders, as well as federal, state and municipal government agencies in the acknowledgment of their outstanding efforts to Keep our Nation Secure.
Best IP Video Surveillance Solution
The Senstar Symphony™ Common Operating Platform with sensor fusion is a modular solution for security management and data intelligence.
In addition to being an open, highly scalable video management system with built-in video analytics, it includes full-featured access control and perimeter intrusion detection modules.
But what truly sets Senstar Symphony apart is its sensor fusion engine.
By intelligently combining low-level sensor data with video analytics, the sensor fusion engine achieves the highest levels of performance, far beyond that of the individual devices.
