In fact, on Wednesday, Atlanta Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), announced their selection of CNC to implement a comprehensive airborne counterterrorism solution.
Designed to enhance regional preparedness and improve emergency response, the turnkey system will support real-time sharing of HD video and data between multiple area law enforcement and public safety agencies.
This will include law enforcement agencies in the City of Atlanta and the five counties of Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett.
CNC will lead implementation and provide ongoing support for all aspects of the project, which will enable law enforcement helicopters to stream live video and data to ground-based command sites and to authorized users via PCs and mobile devices.
CNC will partner with Rotor Resources, LLC, a PART 145 integration and maintenance facility with decades of experience working with law enforcement customers to deploy the new downlink capability.
This will include modernizing and upgrading the transmission technology across four helicopters as well as at three existing downlink receive sites located throughout the region.
“This state of the art solution will enhance a number of our capabilities, such as Intelligence and Information Gathering, Operation Coordination and On-Scene Security, Protection and Law Enforcement,” explained Greg Mason, Homeland Security & Recovery Group Manager of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), which administers the Atlanta UASI.

Providing uninterrupted and secure broadcast across the entire Atlanta UASI region, the new system is funded by US. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which supports high-density urban areas in building an enhanced capacity to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to and recover from acts of terrorism.
Furthermore, in addition to designing and deploying the downlink solution, CNC will provide 24/7, 365-day-a-year support, ongoing operator training and a three-year parts and labor warranty on all aspects of the system.
