Shooter Detection Systems (SDS), an Alarm.com company, and the 2022 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Award Winner for Best Gunshot Detection Solution, has introduced a groundbreaking new 911 notification service for gunshot events called ResponderLink.
ResponderLink completes the circle from detection to 911 notification to first responder awareness, giving law enforcement the enhanced situational intelligence they urgently need to save lives.
Integrating SDS’s proven gunshot detection system with Noonlight’s SendPolice platform, ResponderLink is the first solution to automatically deliver real-time gunshot detection data to 911 call centers and first responders.
When shots are detected, the 911 dispatching center, also known as the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), is contacted based on the gunfire location, enabling faster initiation of life-saving emergency protocols.

ResponderLink also enables the delivery of alerts to a customer-defined list of stakeholders and the integrator servicing the location.
By opening the lines of communication between first responders and facility managers, ResponderLink aids in coordinating emergency response to the location.
Leveraging Noonlight’s emergency response call center, trained safety agents provide 911 operators access to a live web dashboard showing gunshot details, location, and progression as an incident unfolds.
(See how Noonlight combines advanced technology with real humans to protect and comfort people so they can live freely. Launched in 2013 as a mobile application, Noonlight has since grown into a connected safety platform — partnering with products and services to enable modern and affordable 24/7 professional sensor monitoring, video monitoring, and data-rich emergency response. Noonlight works everywhere in the United States, allowing people to quickly get help in any situation without requiring a 911 call or the ability to talk or text. First responders are empowered with ongoing updates for advanced situational awareness when approaching an active threat, on the way to the scene.
For SDS customers, ResponderLink completes the circle as an all-in-one system for unparalleled gunshot detection, 911 notification, and emergency response coordination.
“Active shooter incidents require extraordinary speed and coordination between 911 dispatch and first responders,” explains Rich Onofrio, Chief Technology Officer at SDS.
“Our new ResponderLink transforms emergency communication and response by linking real-time gunshot intelligence to the first critical seconds of an incident.”
“This has game-changing potential to save lives.”
“We’re excited to partner with SDS, a technology that eliminates the frenzy of false gunshot detections and further protects people in the most prevalent and heartbreaking threat facing our schools and businesses today,” added Zach Winkler, President of Noonlight.
“Our ability to quickly communicate the exact location and progression of gunshots throughout a building or campus is critical to empowering first responders, reducing response times, and saving lives.”
“It’s a powerful integration and one that certainly furthers our mission.”
By streamlining notifications and equipping first responders with live data, ResponderLink enables law enforcement and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to approach active shooter events with the highest level of preparation to neutralize threats swiftly.
ResponderLink is now available to all new and existing customers as part of the standard SDS subscription.

Best Gunshot Detection Solution
-
Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection
-
The Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection System’s dual mode acoustic and infrared gunshot detection technology filters out false alerts by validating live gunshot events, allowing end users the confidence to automate the delivery of critical, lifesaving information and integrated security actions for effective active shooter response.
-
While other systems rely on acoustic-only detection with database matching, and in some cases, human interpretation, before reporting shots, which delays reporting time and raises the likelihood of false alerts, Guardian is one of the few solutions on the market that provides third-party laboratory testing to validate its capabilities.
-
Guardian Wireless sensors utilize a proven long-range, low-power wireless technology, a star network topology, and sub-1GHz spread spectrum radio communications with AES encryption.
(See a brief technology overview and live integrated gunshot detection demonstration so you can learn how the Guardian System works, and learn how it operates in response to gunfire in real time. Courtesy of Shooter Detection Systems and YouTube.)
-
Combined with the successful information security and penetration testing SDS’ global customers have done on the Guardian Software, and the library of certified integrations with the industry’s leading security technologies, Guardian Wireless stands alone against all competing offers.
-
New for 2022: The US Patent & Trademark Office awarded a patent to SDS for “cable-free gunshot detection,” which is SDS’s 8th patent in the field of indoor gunshot detection.
-
The Guardian system is still the only indoor gunshot detection system SAFETY Act certified (Red Seal – full certification) by the Department of Homeland Security.
- *Shooter Detection is a returning ‘ASTORS’ Awards Champion, having secured Wins in the 2018 and 2017 Annual Awards Programs.
