PC Matic, an American cybersecurity recognized in the ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program Four Years Running, has released findings of a new public opinion survey which sought to understand public opinion of cybersecurity as it relates to state and federal government preparedness and practices.
The new report, titled “Americans on Cybersecurity”, presents the results of the nationally distributed survey to which nearly 1,400 Americans, representing all 50 states, responded.
The findings, which were gathered in March 2021, signal that a majority of Americans lack confidence in government institutions and their abilities to defend themselves from cybersecurity threats.
Key findings in the new report include:
-
57% of Americans responded that they do not believe the United States Federal Government is prepared to defend itself from cyber threats
-
Nearly 61% of Americans believe the federal government should be doing more to protect American citizens from cyber threats
-
46% of IT professionals lack confidence in the United States Government’s ability to defend itself against a cyber attack
-
Just over 40% of Americans would like to see the United States Congress pass cybersecurity-related legislation
-
Only a quarter of Americans believe Congress needs to allocate more funding to preventing cybersecurity attacks
“It is imperative that Americans have confidence in their government’s ability to defend itself against cyber threats,” explains Rob Cheng, CEO and Founder of PC Matic.
“Cybersecurity is the most imminent threat to our national security, and considering the findings of this survey, it’s important systems be reworked to provide better security and to instill more confidence from the public.”

Best Cyber Security Solution
-
PC Matic Pro
-
PC Matic Pro lacks complacency. The world of cyber threats continues to grow at an exponential rate, and PC Matic Pro believes security solutions must evolve as well.
-
In Q4 of 2019, approximately 54% of ransomware attacks were executed through remote desktop protocol (RDP) ports, a hole the cyber security industry must address.
-
PC Matic Pro did just that with the addition of RDP Lifeline, available at no additional cost for all PC Matic Pro customers and includes the ability to enable and disable RDP ports across the network, schedule when RDP ports are to be enabled, as well as displays a full report of all RDP port activity.
-
Additionally, IT professionals are notified in real-time via the alert system when a new, unauthorized RDP session attempts to execute, so they can then either enable or disable the session right there from their phone or computer.
-
PC Matic Pro also deploys a two-part security component to prevent unauthorized users from uninstalling its security solution which successfully limits the threat of an unauthorized user exploiting a hole within the network and removing the security solution to execute malicious activities.
-
*PC Matic was also recognized in the 2019, 2018 and 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Programs.
