AMICO is proud to announce their Layered Perimeter System, has been nominated along with multiple product lines, to compete in the 2017 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program.
Security requirements and constraints have made it increasingly difficult for utilities to acquire, keep up-to-date, and maintain their high levels of security required for critical infrastructure in meet escalating threats.
As threats evolve there is a need for an open architecture approach to physical and digital security.
AMICO’s layered solution for utilities provides deterrence and delay to intrusion of your perimeter and detection of approaching intruder’s up to 4-km away.
Includes, perimeter fencing, gates, vehicle crash barriers, radar, ballistic panels, non-conductive materials, guard houses, and intrusion detection.
AMICO’s combination approach to energy security takes into consideration both safety and security.
Secura Fence is the proven solutions for substations providing a formidable barrier to intrusion and ultimately the theft of copper wire.
ANC Non-Conductive fencing creates a safety barrier protecting all from the sudden and unplanned occurrences of electrical shock.
AMICO’s smart fence provides real time data to determine a real time response:
- Identifies the threat
- Categorizes by man, vehicle, animal, aircraft, direction and speed
- Records as video and emails the security manager for appropriate response

As power and energy companies throughout the world are becoming increasingly aware that ANC is the best solution to eliminate unforeseen occurrences related to touch and step potential.
ANC can help to insure that power employees who work around electricity are able to work in a safer environment.
Many substations are in highly populated areas.
With the increased demand for aesthetics, ANC’s superior look and appearance is becoming widely specified.
This solution combines the latest in radar surveillance technology with high security layered, double walled fencing and state of the art detection technology to create a comprehensive perimeter solution.
In addition to proving to be an ideal solution for critical infrastructure protection for utilities, a multi-layered solution can also be ideal for border security needs, government facilities and airports.
The multi-layered perimeter system involves a combination of the following systems:
GroundAware Radar Systems
Using GroundAware® Radar, the system can detect approaching targets up to 3 kilometers.
The system then classifies the approaching target as either human, animal, aircraft or vehicle.
Specific targets, such as animals, can be programmed not to trigger an alarm.
Once an alarm is triggered a thermal imaging PTZ camera will key on the object, and security guards can be notified well in advance.

Perimeter Wall System
AMICO’s AMIGUARD dual wall, double mesh system makes perimeter penetration extremely difficult.
Dual mesh allows security guards to see through to the other side of the fence as opposed to a solid wall application.
In addition, it allows wind to pass through the wall which reduces wind resistance and size of the posts required, thus reducing cost.
Meshes can also be configured to prevent scaling and greatly increased forced entry times.
To further prevent scaling, the fence includes triple layers of barbed tape.

These walls are versatile and can be constructed to meet various grade changes and topography, and is extremely simple to install.
To prevent tunneling, a physical barrier is installed that penetrates underground several feet and extends several feet below the bottom of the fence system.
Seismic sensors can also be added to detect tunneling at much greater depths.
The perimeter fence system can be outfitted with vibration sensors which are attached to the fence itself.
When the shaker wire senses a potential breach, it set off an alarm to notify the proper authorities.

AMICO Security brings to the market extensive experience in building border walls and fences.
The company is considered the largest manufacturer of Security Mesh in the world and currently has over 50 miles of fence on the United States border.
Security Mesh is an extremely cost-effective way to build a barrier while allowing security guards to see through the fence and wind to pass through reducing wind resistance.
These high security meshes can be produced to meet anti-climb and cut requirements making it very difficult to breach.
