Select Engineering Services (SES), a Double Platinum Award Winner in the 2020 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, is pleased to announce the Automatic Injury Detection (AID) is one of two products nominated to compete in the 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Awards Program.
Over the last several years ambushes and attacks on Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders has dramatically increased, with officers having been killed or critically injured as a result of these attacks.
Many of these officers were incapacitated in the attacks, and unable to call for assistance or notify dispatchers of their location and too many have perished as a result.
Select Engineering Services has developed patented Automatic Injury Detection (AID) “Penetration Detection Sensors” that insert in a police officer, security guard, or military warfighter’s body armor carrier (both front and back panels) in front of the ballistic panels protecting the wearers, and facing the attacker.
No modification to body armor is required.
Automatic Injury Detection (AID) Penetration Detection Sensors instantly detect injuries and attacks, whether the wearer is stabbed, shot or struck by IED shrapnel – then automatically sends the injury zone and attack location to the entire agency via text alert messages with google driving directions.

Immediate, Precise and Reliable Communication – During a Traumatic Event
Automatic Injury Detection (AID) immediately sends actionable data over the officers’ existing smartphone or radio, and instantly reports any penetrating injury affecting the coverage area.
AID can even detect arrows and blade instruments that cannot be detected by acoustic detectors that simply detect gunfire, not the targets he is shooting at or the diversion tactics.
Automatic Injury Detection (AID) penetration sensors work even if the officer or soldier is incapacitated and will continue to update any change in location (automatically) even if the user is unconscious or being transported against their will.
No user input is required for continued tracking and “listening in” at their changing locations.
This is a revolutionary jump in communication using push data instead of pull, requiring no user input.
Automatic Injury Detection (AID) alerts include what area of their body was injured, the officer’s heart rate, as well as communicate the injured officer’s medical information so first responders will be advised as to blood types and/or any relevant allergies before even deploying to the site.
SES has dedicated itself to doing all that is possible to protect those individuals who place their lives on the line every day in order to protect us.
AID KEY BENEFITS INCLUDE:
-
No Dispatcher required / No Errors / No Delays
-
When the AID sensors detect a puncture or gunshot, it automatically generates alerts of your location by text, to up to 30 preset numbers – even if the officer is fully incapacitated.
-
Information includes the GPS location of the officer, the location of the injury, the officers blood type and any known allergies
-
Opens a Microphone so responders can “listen in” to what’s happening at the attack location
-
Starts Video Camera (Visual Labs, App)
-
Sends “Heart Rate” from watch (Galaxy or Apple Watch).
-
Once activated, it tracks the officers location – and updates the location every time their mobile phone moves 30 feet or more in any direction
-
Common Operating Picture and Situational Awareness
-
Hack Resistant- Does not rely on centralized 911 dispatcher’s CAD
-
Five-year warranty
-
1-year rechargeable battery
Community safety increase:
Officer(s) being the critical first line of defense, every second a shooter is active can result in additional casualties – Automatic Injury Detection (AID) sensors assist in rapid deployment for the fastest possible coordinated response.
AID Moto Team and Partner
Select Engineering Services has teamed with Motorola Solutions as part of their Command Central Aware to add the Automatic Injury Detection (AID) notifications and location updates for a common operating picture and situational awareness.
The combination of AID and Command Central Aware provide the most effective management if there is a single attack or coordinated attack on the agency.
