BeyondTrust Returns to Compete in 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Awards Program

BeyondTrust
In a world of stolen identities, phished passwords, and deep fakes, simply trusting users and systems is not enough. The BeyondTrust Universal Privilege Management platform enables trusted access that is monitored, managed, secured, and just-in-time... protecting your business so it can run fast.

BeyondTrust, a global leader in Privileged Access Management (PAM), and the Gold Award Winner for Best Privileged Access Security Solution in the 2020 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program,

The latest Executive Order (EO) signed by President Biden to improve our nation’s cybersecurity and protect government networks is yet another reminder that all agencies need to make a significant effort to modernize cybers defenses.

A noteworthy component of the order in Section 4: Enhancing Software Supply Chain Security, is the focus on securing privileged accounts and credentials.

The EO states as follows: “the security and integrity of “critical software” — software that performs functions critical to trust (such as affording or requiring elevated system privileges or direct access to networking and computing resources) — is a particular concern. Accordingly, the Federal Government must take action to rapidly improve the security and integrity of the software supply chain, with a priority on addressing critical software.”

Privileged users (coders, admin, c-level, etc) have such a critical impact in an environment because they have access to the most sensitive and top-secret information.

Recent high profile attacks like SolarWinds, Microsoft Exchange and the recent Gas Pipeline breach are a reminder that privileged credentials are highly targeted by threat actors and need to be protected at all times.

Agencies must take additional care when giving people access to a privileged operation.

Privileged access management is arguably the most important technology area of this domain: protecting privileged credentials, granularly enforcing least privilege, and monitoring and managing every session involving privileged access — whether human, machine, employee, or vendor.

After all, almost every attack today requires privilege for the initial exploit, or to laterally move within a network.

Most privileged access management solutions just focus on passwords.

However, BeyondTrust’s innovative Universal Privilege Management approach to cyber security secures every user, asset, and session across your enterprise.

Deployed as Software as a service (SaaS) or on-premises, BeyondTrust’s approach simplifies deployments, reduces costs, improves usability, and reduces privilege risks.

BeyondTrust’s Universal Privilege Access Management approach can protect agencies by:

  • Implementing credential management best practices to prevent credentials from being stolen or misused.

  • Enforcing least privilege across users, applications, systems, etc. to drastically reduce the attack surface and minimize potential lateral access pathways.

  • Ensuring elevated access is only given when contextual parameters are met, and is immediately revoked after the activity is performed or the context has changed.

  • Securing remote access for employees, vendors or contractors—without a VPN—and enabling agencies to lock down access to cloud, virtual and DevOps control planes and other consoles.

(Learn how BeyondTrust’s Secure Remote Access solutions enable organizations to apply least privilege and robust audit controls to all remote access required by employees, vendors, and service desks. • Monitoring and managing every privileged session, providing an unimpeachable audit trail, and the ability to pause or terminate suspicious sessions.

  • Identity-centric security with a PAM platform applies a unified and automated approach to identity and privileged access management, securing privileged sessions, users, and assets, reducing the attack surface and limits lateral movement from user and device impersonation.
