BriefCam, the industry’s leading provider of video content analytics solutions, and the Platinum ‘ASTORS’ Award Winner for Best Video Analytics Solution for Three Consecutive Years, has announced that BriefCam Video Content Analytics to become available on deep learning cameras from Axis Communications, also a competitor in the 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Awards Program, as of December 2021.
Edge video processing on Axis deep learning cameras is a new hybrid deployment option for the BriefCam platform that reduces the total cost of ownership of a real-time video analytics deployment.
Through the Axis Application Development Partner Program, BriefCam is one of the first to leverage the AXIS Camera Application Platform (ACAP) to enable comprehensive analytics directly on Axis Communications’ deep learning camera series.
BriefCam analytics are enabled on the Axis deep learning cameras AXIS P3255 and AXIS Q1615 Mk III, which feature a dual chipset of ARTPEC-7 and a deep-learning processing unit (DLPU), as well as the ARTPEC 8 camera series.
“The ability to process BriefCam video analytics at the edge is a game-changer for organizations striving to extract valuable data insights from video,” explained Gili Rom, VP Strategy and Alliances at BriefCam.
“Greater flexibility in deployment architectures and the introduction of a hybrid deployment model through BriefCam enabled on Axis deep learning cameras further extends advanced real time analytics for safety, security and operational efficiency – a technology partnership that has significant benefits for the end user.”
Highly nuanced object classification
AXIS Q1615 Mk III
The AXIS Q1615 Mk III fixed box camera with Q-line functionality and exceptional video quality includes an innovative dual chipset that is the basis for remarkably granular object classification.
AXIS Object Analytics is preinstalled and the camera’s dual chipset facilitates powerful artificial intelligence with deep learning, allowing the analytics to distinguish between bikes, cars, buses, trucks, and so on, so you can decide which vehicles you want to detect and when alarms are triggered, and notifications are sent to security personnel.
Basing notifications on recognizing the difference between different kinds of vehicles results in fewer false alarms, so your operators will waste less time responding unnecessarily and they’ll be able to handle more cameras.
AXIS P3255
The AXIS P3255-LVE fixed dome camera features an innovative dual chipset that is the basis for nuanced and remarkably granular object classification, and comes with AXIS Object Analytics preinstalled and the camera’s dual chipset facilitates powerful artificial intelligence with deep learning.
This makes it possible for AXIS Object Analytics to detect and classify humans and/or vehicles as well as distinguish between different types of vehicles such as cars, buses, trucks, and bikes (motorcycle/bicycle), basing notifications on different types of objects results in fewer false alarms and allows your operators to able to handle more cameras.

“Axis is excited for the availability of BriefCam analytics on Axis deep learning cameras, a great step forward toward our shared vision for advancing best-in-class video surveillance technologies, with significant reduction in real-time processing costs for end users,” added Mats Thulin, Director of Core Technology for Axis Communications.
“The breadth of BriefCam’s video analytics together with powerful Axis deep clearing cameras, including the new, powerful Axis ARTPEC-8 DLPU enabled cameras, creates an even more scalable and cost-effective solution.”

Driven by artificial intelligence and deep learning, video intelligence software detects and extracts objects in video, identifies each object based on trained Deep Neural Networks, and then classifies each object to enable intelligent video analysis, including search and filtering, alerting, and data aggregation and visualization.
By integrating BriefCam analytics on the edge, along with post-processing and management capabilities, Axis deep learning cameras AXIS P3255 and AXIS Q1615 Mk III users will experience up to six times faster real-time alerting, a 5-10x reduction in bandwidth, and up to 55% fewer real-time GPU processing servers for real-time processing.
This enables greater flexibility and cost efficiency for large-scale or distributed video analytics deployments.
“The hybrid deployment solution featuring the deep learning camera series by Axis coupled with BriefCam comprehensive analytics enables users to reduce the total cost of ownership for real-time video analytics, achieve success in low-bandwidth environments, and allow for faster real-time alerting,” said BriefCam’s Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Weagle.
“This combination facilitates an optimized solution for rule-based real-time alerts in time-sensitive situations.”
