BAE Systems has selected CH2M for an award contract to provide architect-engineering services in support of the implementation of airfield Instrument Landing System and shore-based Instrument Carrier Landing System installations, at over 35 U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps facilities worldwide.
CH2M and BAE Systems will support the Air Traffic Control Systems Division as part of the U.S. Navy’s Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems program.

The Navy established the ILS and ICLS as a program of record to provide enhanced all-weather landing capability to new Navy and USMC aircrafts such as the F-35, P-8 and MV-22.
These landing systems provide electronic precision guidance to help Navy pilots approach and land safely on the ground and at sea, under conditions of reduced visibility.
CH2M’s military aviation team will serve the Navy through the development of facility requirements documents for the ILS and ICLS programs and will provide preliminary civil and electrical design for each installation site through the preparation of base electronic system engineering plans and installation design plans.
“Understanding the Navy and Marine Corps operational needs and the Naval Facilities Engineering Command process of implementing airfield infrastructure repair and improvement projects is a key element to the success of this program,” said Matt Kundrot, CH2M Federal Program Director for Aviation.
“CH2M brings the technical expertise and proven capability to improve military mission capability and safety.”
BAE Systems selected CH2M to serve the Navy based on the company’s decades-long experience with design and construction of airfield navigational aids at military and commercial airports around the world.
Over the past 7 years, CH2M has delivered more than $350 million in design services for the military, worth over $2.5 billion in constructed value, including numerous military airfield runways, taxiways, aprons and other supporting infrastructure.
CH2M leads the professional services industry delivering sustainable solutions benefiting societal, environmental and economic outcomes with the development of infrastructure and industry.
In this way, CH2Mers make a positive difference providing consulting, design, engineering and management services for clients needing world-class solutions in environmental; industrial and advanced facilities; transportation; and water markets, from iconic infrastructure to global programs like the Olympic Games.
