Everbridge, a global leader in critical event management software that helps keep people safe and businesses running, and a Double Award Winner in the 2018 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program, and Everbridge’s partners in Florida are ready for Hurricane Dorian.

Everbridge, has sent more than 5 million messages so far for their state/local gov’t and enterprise users in the path of the storm.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) recently signed a five-year extension of its statewide mass notification platform, AlertFlorida, to bolster Florida’s ongoing hurricane preparedness efforts.

Managed by FDEM and operated by Everbridge, AlertFlorida distributes critical information to residents, businesses and visitors across the state, where it is currently deployed in 64 of Florida’s 67 counties, at no cost to individual jurisdictions.

This widespread adoption is critically important as the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season is well underway.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management’s statewide approach to hurricane preparedness, coordination and response is highlighted in the video below video, featuring insight from six Florida counties, as well as the city of Miami, discussing best practices for ensuring hurricane readiness, the benefits of mutual aid assistance across counties, coordinating safe evacuations for all residents, as well as the many use cases for a scalable mass notification platform.

As Hurricane Dorian rapidly intensifies to become what one forecaster is calling “the strongest storm to hit Central Florida in nearly 30 years,” we wanted to update you on Everbridge’s efforts to help the communities in its path.

Everbridge is currently supporting over 100 customers in the projected impact area, from city governments and enterprises to airports and hospitals.

The company has also been coordinating with the FDEM to activate their Everbridge keyword (Text FLPREPARES to 888777) to keep residents statewide safe and informed.

Critical events happen every day: severe weather, workplace violence, active shooters, terrorism, IT and power outages, environmental discharges, critical equipment failures, medical emergencies, social media attacks… They threaten safety and brand reputation, interrupt supply chains, and disrupt operations. (Courtesy of Everbridge)Chances are when an emergency occurs, some of the crisis responders will not be at their desk or may even be asleep. Everbridge ManageBridge brings the same set of rich features available to Mass Notification, Safety Connection and IT Alerting administrators who frequently use smartphones and tablets.

Other Florida cities and counties have followed suit and deployed keywords of their own, including Seminole County (Keyword: DORIAN), Osceola County (ALERTOSCEOLA); Martin County (ALERTMARTIN); Brevard County (BREVARDEOC); Tampa (TAMPAREADY); and Kissimmee (KISSIMEE).

What is Critical Event Management (CEM)?

A critical event is a disruptive incident which poses serious risk or threat to assets or people.

An effective Critical Event Management program and strategy is an integrated, end-to-end process that enables organizations to significantly speed up responses to critical events and improve outcomes by mitigating or eliminating the impact of a threat.

Imagine your business continuity, disaster recovery, active assailant, emergency response, natural disaster, IT incident risk management, and mass notification all rolled up into an easy-to-execute, strategic plan with long-term benefits.
