The SkyDome system classifies and mitigates threats autonomously with its interceptor drone, DroneHunter®.

At the heart of the Fortem SkyDome System is TrueView® radar, a compact, AI-enabled, networkable radar designed to perform in urban environments and crowded, public places such as sports arenas and airports.

The ThreatAware™ Risk Assessment Engine

Even when the presence of a drone is certain, more intel is needed to take appropriate action. What type of drone is it? How is the drone behaving? Is it advancing? If so, how quickly? Is it carrying something? Without knowing more, it’s hard to make the important judgments that can ultimately save the day or waste resources.

SkyDome® Manager incorporates all tracked objects into its ThreatAware™ risk assessment using classification to identify probable drone threats, evaluating the capacity of the drone to carry a payload, and evaluating intention, based on distance, directionality, and the speed the drone is closing in on protected areas.

The decided threat level is then used to trigger a pre-configured, automated response.

The DroneHunter F700 is a counter-UAS weapon that captures surveillance and reconnaissance drones by shooting a net around them to either ground or tow the system away.

Fully autonomous, radar-guided, and purpose-built for superior speed and agility, it stops rogue drones without resulting in costly collateral damage.

Ukraine has multiple of Fortem’s drones in operation, which have been critical to Ukrainian forces.

The unique capture system has enabled Ukraine to fingerprint malicious drones, providing invaluable information about their origins and mission.

Additionally, the DroneHunter F700 has allowed some of these malicious drones to be recovered and repurposed, providing Ukraine with additional assets.

Fortem tested the DroneHunter’s capability to mitigate drones and fixed wings that had the speed, altitude, and engine power of the Iranian Shahed-136 and Russian Orlan-10, as well as further hardened the system to perform more effectively in RF and GNSS degraded environments to meet the real-world needs of the Ukrainian battlefield.

The DroneHunter can pursue and capture drones with a net and tether system that allows the DroneHunter to carry the offending drone to a designated drop zone or defend against large fast flying drones by netting them and adding a drogue chute (parachute) which causes them to spiral down to the ground slowly.

Unlike current solutions or competitive offerings, the DroneHunter, combined with Fortem’s latest SkyDome system, can preempt such attacks readily and at a significantly lower cost than military systems.

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which came out in force to discuss comprehensive collaborations between private and public sectors that have led to the development of intelligence and technologies that serve to protect our nation.

The keynote address was provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner (DEAC) Diane Sabatino, who described the changes to CBP through the tragedy of 9/11 and the relentless commitment to its mission and ongoing investment in the latest technologies and innovations to protect our borders and Homeland.

The resounding theme of the DEAC’s remarks was her pride in the women and men of the CBP and their families who support them.

AST was also joined by Legendary Police Commissioner William Bratton, who spoke about his love for the City of New York, the Profession of law enforcement to which he has dedicated his life, and for which he continues to drive thought leadership and innovation.

New York City Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Department Kenneth Corey, came out to address Luncheon attendees and shared some of his experiences and the changes in policing he’s witnessed over his more than three decades of service.

FDNY Chief Joseph Jardin honored the men and women of the FDNY, not only those who currently serve but all of those who have selflessly served, with special recognition of those lost on 9/11.

Chief Jardin spoke about the continuing health battle of many following 9/11 with cancer and respiratory disease, yet now knowing the full consequences, would not have made a different decision to respond.

As Chief Jardin noted, mission-driven service is the lifeblood of every firefighter, volunteer, and sworn member, and has been so throughout the history of the Fire Service.
