IDScan.net is offering free technology to assist those involved in Hurricane Harvey response efforts, including first responders, shelters, aid organizations, and volunteer groups.
The company’s VeriScan Online ID scanning application allows responders to easily collect, track and maintain information of displaced residents and response workers and volunteers.
The easy-to-use app allows designated users to scan government issued identification with the camera on a smart device, such as an iPhone.
The information is collected in less than a second and stored in a secure online portal that can be accessed to inform loved ones that a person has been rescued, track displaced persons, grant or restrict access to certain areas, and manage response workers and volunteers.

IDScan.net offered this same technology for free during the historic flooding in Baton Rouge, La. that occurred in August 2016.
“The images coming out of the flood-ravaged areas are heartbreaking, and we in New Orleans know how important it is to have accurate information on people’s whereabouts in the chaotic aftermath of large scale disasters,” said Denis Petrov, the CEO of IDScan.net.
“That’s why we’re offering our solution for free.”
The technology is easy to use, fast, works with virtually all smart devices, and does not rely on WiFi to scan, making it ideal for disaster response scenarios.
Responders can use the app to search for information on people whose IDs they have scanned.
Once connected to WiFi, they can access all of the information scanned by their organization using the VeriScan Online portal.
They can determine if an individual has checked in at a shelter or other relief area.
Multiple points of scanning can be connected so information can be shared between an organization’s different locations and between multiple organizations.
Information can also be exported and shared, for example, with first responders.
The data is encrypted and stored on a secure server.
Only individual response organizations using the app will have access to the data.
The data will not be made public or shared by IDScan.net.
Those involved in response efforts may register for the app, VeriScan Online, for free here.
