An El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed early Wednesday morning while responding to a call for service in the area of Sand Ridge Road in Somerset, Ca, the sheriff’s office confirmed.
The deputy has been identified as Deputy Brian Ishmael.
A ride-along was with Deputy Ishmael during the call and was injured during the shooting.
Their condition is currently unknown.

There is a large contingent of law enforcement including a helicopter in the area.
Residents, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s ask that you remain vigilant and call 911 for any suspicious activity.
Deputy Brian Ishmael was a 4-year veteran with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s office and previous worked for Placerville Police Department.
