HID Global®, a worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions, today announced a new campaign that combines charitable giving with the world’s most innovative use of NFC technology – HID Trusted Tag® Services – to create a trusted interactive experience for travelers who want to prove that they reached their destination and did well by doing good.
Seeing an opportunity to inspire people to travel to the most interesting places with a purpose, a Harvard-educated software engineer-turned-adventurer named Nuseir Yassin (aka “Nas”) accepted the challenge to set up an HID Trusted Tag in one of the most remote parts of the world and in one of the most famous and crowded parts of the world.
This goal fueled his passion for new experiences and using trusted technology to connect people, cultures, places and things.

Thanks to Nas’ actions that were captured on video in a one-of-a-kind, high-energy and daring display, an HID Trusted tag is established on Easter Island off the coast of Chile and on Park Avenue in the heart of New York City.
To prove that one has been there, anyone can go tap his or her phone to the tag. For each tap, HID Global will donate $1 to a local charity in each location.*
“Join the movement to tap around the world and prove you were there,” said Samuel Asarnoj, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Business Development with HID Global.
“It has been a pleasure to partner with such a travel trend-setter as Nas on the Tap around the World campaign to create experiences for travelers to achieve a goal with a charitable purpose. Easter Island and New York are the first of more destinations to come.”
Traveler Challenge
Whether at home, work, or on the go, the Internet of Things (IoT) is a part of our daily lives. In an effort to connect people from around the world, we have placed interactive trusted NFC tags at specific coordinates in one of the most crowded areas in the world, and one of the most remote.
Hack-proof • Unclonable • No app required
Get outside and see the world, prove it to your friends, get connected and Tap Around the World.
Step 1: Go to the coordinates and simply tap your NFC enabled mobile phone on the poster located at the site. (Make sure your NFC feature is turned on.)
Step 2: For each unique tap, HID Global will donate $1 to the Food Bank for New York City or the Easter Island Foundation.

HID Trusted Tag Services make it possible to definitively prove a person’s presence at a specific location, whether a traveler, a home healthcare worker, maintenance staff or a security guard.
In addition, HID Trusted Tag Services combine secure NFC tags and HID Cloud Authentication to provide the missing link that securely connected everyday objects to web or mobile applications in order to expand the Internet of Trusted Things (IoTT).
This innovative NFC-based technology that HID Global pioneered enables numerous IoT use cases requiring proof of presence, including simply allowing travelers to “check in” at destinations in different parts of the world.
HID Trusted Tag Services and the company’s broad portfolio of RFID tags are part of HID Global’s Identification Technologies (IDT) business.
*The total amount HID will donate has been capped at 10 KUSD
