SIMS Software, which is widely recognized as the industry leader in security information management systems, with a track record spanning nearly four decades, is pleased to announce the company has been nominated to compete in the 2021 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards Program.
The company’s flagship product, Security Information Management System (SIMS) manages visitors, classified contracts, classified information tracking and control, as well as personnel security clearance processing and monitoring at all levels, including Top Secret and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) requirements.
SIMS provides all the features and functionality necessary to run a powerful, paperless industrial security program with a single system of record. Clients are able to escape the development costs and interoperability issues associated with in-house solutions, which are often more expensive than SIMS.
SIMS Software’s next generation security platform SIMS Infinity brings a completely new dimension to a Security information Management System by layering in communications, notifications, customer-unique self-customizations, work tasks and team collaborations on top of the extensive database and tracking already provided plus new Leadership Dashboards to enable rapid metrics-based decisions.
Introduction to SIMS Software: (Security Information Management System)
SIMS Lobby provides organizations with a lower-cost licensing alternative and limited module access for lobby staff; a value-added option available with the SIMS Multi-User license.
With competing industrial security management products, enterprises must typically pay for a full license for every security guard and entry control staff member who must access visitor information. This becomes an expensive proposition very quickly with multiple lobbies and lobby shifts.
SIMS Lobby provides the necessary visitor check-in and badge printing capabilities at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a full Multi-User license for those who handle incoming visitor processing.
Features and Benefits
Access to Incoming Visitor module only
Check visitors in/out of the facility
Verify validity of IDs presented using the document reader integration (3M AT9000).
Perform denied party screening on certain visitors, or all visitors during check-in.
SIMS includes 17 fully integrated modules that provide a fully automated 360° view of every physical, virtual and human asset inside your security domain.
Classified Documents & Materials – manage, store and track classified documents and materials; maintain an audit trail on all document transactions.
Cleared Personnel – maintain a global view of all personnel, including multiple clearance cases, special accesses including SCI and SAP, background investigations and more. Includes JPAS import wizard and eventually DISS.
Visitor Control – track and approve/deny new and returning visitors, manage meetings, streamline lobby check-in/out procedures, print badges, and generate visitor reports.
Information Systems – track hardware, software, network information, authorized users and access privileges; generate system access reports and perform system audits.
Locks and Keys – strengthen physical security with detailed audit trails that track quantities created and issued, type and access, lost or misplaced keys, damaged locks and more.
Containers – track and manage classified areas, approved security containers of all types and their contents. Includes locations, custodians, combination change/expiration dates, alarm testing and access lists.
Incidents – track all security incidents and violations, including subjects involved, disciplinary actions and suspicious contacts. Includes insider threat indicators compiled from all functional elements: HR, security, IT and legal.
Facilities – track information for the host facility and other locations, including Facility Clearance verification and Cognizant Security Agency information. Manage NISPOM self-inspections and view government inspection results.
Contracts – manage prime contracts, subcontracts and generate detailed reports on DD254s, start/end dates, tasks and required accesses, customers, contracting officers, program managers and more.
SIMS provides a fully automated 360° view of every physical, virtual and human asset inside your security domain, to deliver their customers with the technology tools necessary to detect, deter and mitigate insider threats and stay compliant with government requirements.
Enables compliance with National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) Change 2 insider threat requirements.
Provides centralized, enterprise-wide storage of insider threat data to support synergy and collaboration between functional elements: human resources, security, information assurance and legal.
Provides real-time monitoring, evaluation and reports via SIMS Dashboards to supplement your insider threat program anytime, anywhere.
Compiles threat indicator data to identify insiders who meet or exceed thresholds.
Insider threat case management that compiles, organizes and tracks indicator data related to potential insiders, applied mitigation and further compliance reporting.
Provides details related to foreign travel, foreign contacts and number/type of incidents.
E-mail notifications to Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO) and insider threat working group members of individuals requiring further review.
Ability to perform self-inspections with Excel-compatible tools.
SIMS Dashboards is a powerful business tool that provides real-time visibility, analysis and reporting of your security domain. In addition to strengthening your organization’s security posture, the implementation of Dashboards offers significant business benefits in overall productivity, employee efficiency and regulatory compliance.
With Dashboards, you can quickly generate up-to-date views of security data with the highest levels of granularity, from the enterprise level to specific divisions, sites or data groups. Dashboards empowers you with the freedom and flexibility to tailor your security plans based on real-world metrics and a 360° view of your high-value assets, including:
Visitor Control and Lobby Management
Locks & Keys
Incidents and Insider Threat Data
The SIMS Employee Portal is a value-added personnel tool that significantly increases productivity and efficiency for your security department.
Employees that need access to their personnel data must typically send requests through the Facility Security Officer (FSO) or Personal Security (PERSEC) staff; this time-consuming and inefficient process places an extra burden on security staff.
The SIMS Employee portal is a self-service feature that gives employees the ability to proactively access, review and validate personnel data stored in SIMS, such as clearance status and foreign travel and training records.
Access to individual SIMS Personnel records was previously limited to SIMS users. Now, any employee with a SIMS Personnel record can be granted access to the Employee Portal to view a portion of their records and even upload .pdf files needed by security.
All other functionality is read-only; employees do not have permissions to change or delete any stored information. The SIMS Employee Portal is available in SIMS v7.22 at no additional cost and without using one of your concurrent SIMS licenses.
Customizable message banner: each employee will be presented with your organization’s message upon log in.
Employee access to data stored within their individual SIMS Personnel records, without requiring the use of a SIMS license and at no additional fee.
The ability for employees to upload PDF files (training certificates, briefings, etc.) to the SIMS Employee Portal tab of their Personnel record.
Employee insight into current clearance level and status (granted, briefing and reinvestigation dates).
Employee review of Personnel Training information, allowing them to validate their trainings against their SIMS Personnel training records.
Employee review of information related to Accesses (SCI, COMSEC, NATO).
Employee review of Active Contracts, including Access and Cease dates.
Employee review of Foreign Travel locations and travel dates.
Secure access using Active Directory authentication; employees will not be able to log in and view another individual’s information.
Increase productivity and efficiency by allowing employees to access and review their own personnel data.
Empower personnel to take a more proactive approach to managing and validating various aspects of their employment with your organization, from personnel training records and clearance status to active contracts and foreign travel.
Reduce the amount of time that PERSEC staff spend looking up personnel data for employees, freeing up valuable resources for other tasks.
Take advantage of a new business tool with no additional cost or licensing requirements.
Augment your existing investment in SIMS with the additional capabilities offered by the SIMS Employee Portal.
